Tornado (2002)
** (out of 4)
Lynne Sachs' produced, wrote and directed this three minute short that starts off with subtitles telling us what a tornado is before we see some hands holding up pieces of paper. We learn that these bits of paper came into Brooklyn from the 9/11 attacks. The titles refers to the wind that carried the paper. I'm sure there was a big heart behind this picture but overall I found it to be fairly weak. There's certainly nothing bad here but at the same time there's really nothing too special either. I think the narration hurt the film at times since the images would have been strong enough on their own. As far as the images go, seeing these papers that were from the towers was pretty strong stuff on its own.
