Producer Jonah Swilley and rapper Brandon “Bez” Evans are the two brains behind the hip-hop duo Revival Season. Their debut album, Golden Age of Self Snitching, is out February 23rd via Heavenly Recordings, and they’re previewing it with the lead single “Pump.”
Citing artists like Dungeon Family, OutKast, and Beastie Boys as some of their main inspirations, Revival Season often nod to hip-hop’s roots with their funk-forward approach. The duo formed while Swilley was looking for his next collaborator, and Bez quickly proved to be the man for the job, creating an “instant rapport and creative chemistry.”
“We kinda worked backwards, reverse-engineered a lot of songs,” explains Swilley, who’d make beats out of Bez’s isolated vocals. “I’d build a track around what he was doing vocally, kind of fill it out rhythmically, using his vocal as an instrument, seeing how I could accompany that musically...

Kenneth Branagh is back for this third — and by TheWrap’s account, best — appearance as Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot in “A Haunting in Venice.” He also directs the spooky mystery, which boasts a terrific lineup of murder suspects (and potential victims), including Michelle Yeoh, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Kelly Reilly.
Here’s who plays which character in the film based on Christie’s 1969 novel “Hallowe’en Party” — and where you might have seen the less familiar names before.
“A Haunting in Venice” is now streaming on Disney+.
20th Century Studios.

British actor Kenneth Branagh reprises his role as the fussy Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, whom he previously played in the recent remakes “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile.” The film begins in 1947 with Poirot retired from sleuthing and leading a quiet life in Venice — until he’s dragged into a new case.

Murder mysteries, particularly those of the Agatha Christie variety, tend to be feasts for actors, affording them the chance to play colorful, eccentric, and often more than a little bit sleazy characters who may or may not like to dabble in homicide on the side. Such was the case with director Kenneth Branagh's first two films in his Hercule Poirot cinematic universe, "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile." For his third go at adapting Christie's super-sleuth for the big screen, "A Haunting in Venice," Branagh has once again surrounded himself (and his ginormous curly mustache) as Poirot with a cast that represents the cream of the crop when it comes to character actors working today.
"A Haunting in Venice" (you can read /Film's review here) adapts one of Christie's lesser-known Poirot novels, "Hallowe'en Party," in order to put something of a horror-tinged spin on your average Poirot adventure.

It's fair to say that the world is ready to see more of Stephanie Hsu. Following her success with "Everything Everywhere All at Once", the actor has taken on several new projects, including the Disney+ series "American Born Chinese" and the raunchy comedy "Joy Ride," which she stars in alongside "Emily in Paris" star Ashley Park.
The film, which hit theaters on July 7, centers around a lawyer named Audrey (Park) who travels to China with a group of her closest friends in search of her birth mother. The unapologetic, hilarious nature of the flick gave Hsu a chance to do something outside her normal bubble, which was a thrill to experience, according to the actor. "It felt so exciting to get to do what we never get to do, which is to be completely unhinged, disgusting, grotesque, chaotic, wild, but still so full of heart," she explained in a July 2023 interview with Elle.

Skeletor must be in charge over at Netflix: The streamer is pulling the plug on Masters of the Universe, a planned live-action movie adaptation of the He-Man animated series and toy line, our sister site Variety reports. Toy maker Mattel is shopping the project to other studios.
The decision to scrap the film reportedly came down to “budget concerns,” with Netflix beginning with a production budget over $200 million and then trying unsuccessfully to pare that down to $150 million. Sources tell Variety that more than $30 million had already been spent on the project.

Fantasy show composers Gustavo Santaolalla (“The Last of Us”), Bear McCreary (“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”) and Ramin Djawadi (“House of the Dragon”) knew going in that their respective projects had built-in audiences — and that those fandoms should be kept in mind while creating their scores.
“The Last of Us” showrunners Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin told Santaolalla that music needed to be “another character” for the HBO series adapted from the video game he previously scored. Rather than create new themes, Santaolalla organically transitioned the music to TV. The South American instrument called “the ronroco,” which he used to write “The Last of Us” theme, was integral in keeping that connectivity for fans who had experienced Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie’s (Bella Ramsay) journey before.
Santaolalla also brought back “All Gone,” “The Path” and other fan-favorite tracks for “The Last of Us” TV series.

The first batch of Catalyst episodes will tell the stories of five creators, all of whom are active on LinkedIn. Together, they have encountered a wide variety of hurdles. Some Catalyst subjects, like Soapbox co-founder David Simnick, had to figure out how to turn around failing businesses. Others dealt with personal issues. Fact-checking exec Ken Oliver went to prison before becoming the VP of Checkr.org.
“I had no idea of what life in prison really meant,” Oliver says in the Catalyst trailer. “I knew that I wasn’t going to let the circumstance of what was happening to me define me.”

MaXXXine is the third title in A24‘s first major horror franchise, on the heels of West’s films X and Pearl, both of which were released to much acclaim last year. HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.
After working on the original The Last of Us video game, composer Gustavo Santaolalla returns for the HBO series, joined by fellow artist David Fleming. In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”

Four years ago, it was announced that Universal was moving forward with a remake of their 1996 teen stalker thriller Fear (watch it Here), which starred Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon. Fear producer Brian Grazer was back to produce the new version, which got far enough that Straight Outta Compton‘s Jonathan Herman was writing the screenplay and Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies) was cast in the lead role. Then it fell apart… But there’s still life in Fear. Variety has broken the news that a series inspired by the film is now in development at the Peacock streaming service, coming our way from Universal Television.
Jessica Goldberg, creator of the Hulu series The Path, is writing and executive producing this new take on Fear, which has the following synopsis:

Universal is re-imagining Fear, the 1996 thriller that starred Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon, with an upcoming Peacock series, Deadline reports this afternoon.
In the James Foley-directed film, Mark Wahlberg played David, an initially charming young man whose extreme dark side soon rears its ugly head.
The series adaptation of the 1990s thriller comes courtesy of “The Path” creator Jessica Goldberg, along with Imagine Television and Universal TV.
Deadline details, “The modern series reinvention finds two young lovers in a psychological game of cat and mouse—but who’s the cat, and who’s the mouse? When David and Nicole first meet in Seattle, it feels like an epic, once-in-a-lifetime romance – but soon it becomes clear that the seemingly perfect couple is anything but.
“Told from conflicting points of view, the series wrestles with personal demons, hidden agendas and reframes the “he said she said” convention into a twist-filled suspense story about toxic relationships.
