DARPA is an acronym for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and is a branch of the United States Department of Defense. DARPA is responsible for the development of new technology for use by the United States military.
The title is from a Bible verse "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1 KJV). It is also the title of a book by James Baldwin about the racially motivated child murders in Atlanta, 1978-81.
