Here's a film that adds nothing to this world. Like many European films that try to give us a first hand account of reality "Parasol" goes nowhere. Some bits try to be comical at the expense of the characters and fail. Some others are just deliberately unpleasant and make these 85 minutes feel like days. Most of the film consists of pretentious overlong takes. They're not meaningful, artistic or enjoyable, it's just garbage.

There's a hint of hubris in the concept of the film too. Does the author believe he understands every aspect of common people's lives? Does he consider himself above these ordinary people?

Certainly the best film I've seen at Hamburg Film Festival 2015 and very probably one of the best I've seen this year!!!!!!

Three stories, three languages, three holiday stories in Mallorca, three different worlds but the strong feeling they belong together.

A mixture of humor and raw realism , a mixture of irony and tenderness, a mixture of violence and "Ästhetik Des Absurden". As if Ulrich Seidl had decided to become a humanist...

Does society condemns us to loneliness? He subtly uses the holidays as a metaphor of a world, a secure society that treats us like children...

Parasol is a must-see! You never know if you may laugh or cry but you have the feeling you are watching a real masterpiece!
