The film was shot using the camera of a lost cell phone that the director found in a shopping mall's park. He asked for a buddy of his to hold the phone to shoot scenes and then edited it using free online editor software. Actors in the film worked for food in exchange of a period of two days meals at a refectory of the salvation army.
Steven Seagal was interested in the part of Hector, and was promised a huge meal at the local mall's MacDonalds, but upon testing him, director Damian Chapa found that Seagal didn't have the acting chops, so he called the other dude.
