Could have been better

A group of allegedly poor pensioners, who however live in a rather upmarket retirement home, decide to pull off a robbery in a Bingo hall, to help one of them, the widowed Edda who is facing financial trouble because of her divorced daughter.

The group is a motley crew as it always happens in these movies, who gets the help of Sasà, a nurse of their centre. Therein lies the problem of the movie. The movie is directed by Fabio Fulco, who also plays the nurse Sasà. Despite a rather professional editing and pacing, a third of screen time is dedicated to the character of Sasà, who is the cliche scoundrel with a heart of gold, obviously from Naples.

Fulco speaks with a very thick accent and most of his gags are tired, old and not funny. Besides, his presence derails the plot from the elderly actors to his screen persona. The pensioners are all professionals with long careers and do an excellent job with the little screen time they're given. Shame we don't get to know them better.
