Exclusive: AI is in the eye of the storm in LA right now amid the writers’ strike and is also a talking point at the Cannes Film Festival due to the de-aging of Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny.
We can reveal an interesting development in the Cannes market with news that generative AI firm Flawless, co-founded by filmmaker Scott Mann (Fall), is partnering with U.S. seller and distributor XYZ Films (Run Rabbit Run) and UK producer Tea Shop Productions (47 Meters Down) to acquire rights to foreign-language films, converting them to English for distribution in English-speaking territories.
The plan is for Flawless’ TrueSync technology to create lip-synced versions of acquired titles, and XYZ will distribute them. The idea is to offer an alternative to subtitles and out-of-sync dubs. The company will also distribute the original versions alongside.

While Dave Bautista may have started his career as a pro wrestler, he has since distinguished himself as an actor, to the point where he is now probably more associated with his films than his feats of athletic theater. Besides his role as Drax the Destroyer in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies and the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bautista has spent the last few years honing his craft. He's worked with acclaimed directors in Denis Villeneuve, Rian Johnson, and Sam Mendes, who've given him supporting roles in the likes of sci-fi epics "Dune" and "Blade Runner 2049," the mystery whodunnit "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," and the James Bond film "Spectre."
Alongside, Bautista has slowly built a leading-man portfolio for himself, with action thrillers such as "Bushwick," "Final Score," and Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead." With his latest film, however, the 54-year-old takes on something different.

Haley Bennett, Sam Riley and Marisa Abela are starring in “She Is Love,” a new romance from Jamie Adams. The film is made in an improvisational style, one that Adams deployed on previous pictures such as “Black Mountain Poets” and “Love Spreads.” It wrapped principal photography this week in Cornwall, U.K., but had never been formally announced.
Here’s the logline: “Coming face-to-face after being estranged for over a decade, divorced couple, Idris and Patricia, opt to revisit the past and traverse that treacherous path together, emerging open to new beginnings.”
“We have this word in Welsh; ‘Hiraeth,’ it roughly means a ‘longing for home.’ Shooting ‘She Is Love’ felt like coming home,” Adams said. “Very rarely have I left a shoot feeling Hiraeth, feeling longing, to be back on that set, continuing to explore scenes. But when you have a lead cast including the exceptional creativity of Haley Bennett,...

Exclusive: UK distributor Signature Entertainment has appointed Andrew Nerger as Head of International Distribution and Marek Steven as Senior Publicist in newly created roles.
Nerger joins Signature after a six-year stint as Head of Sales for UK digital aggregator The Movie Partnership where he worked with all major broadcasters and digital platforms. He previously worked at former Sony and Disney Jv VOD service FilmFlex and at indie Metrodome Distribution.
The addition of an international component for Signature is a sign of growth for the firm but also of the growing need for distribution companies to adopt a multifaceted approach as the releasing landscape shifts apace. Signature, like other distributors, is increasingly on the lookout for multi-territory rights. In the case of the home ent specialist, the company would sublicense in a foreign market or handle the direct digital distribution themselves.

The clock runs out this Friday once Saban Films releases the tension-fueled action thriller Final Score in theaters and on VOD and various digital platforms. Directed by Scott Mann, Dave Bautista stars as a Us veteran named Mike Knox, who takes his niece to a football match in the UK, and ends up stumbling upon a terrorist scenario that involves taking all 35,000 fans inside the stadium hostage. Mike takes it upon himself to thwart this potentially catastrophic event, but with the clock winding down, he faces insurmountable odds as he tries to pull off the impossible.
Daily Dead recently chatted with Mann about Final Score, and he talked about his involvement with the project, how he managed to pull off shooting his wildly entertaining actioner inside a real football stadium, collaborating with his cast, and why Bautista was the perfect anchor for Final Score.
Great to speak with you, Scott.

As we seem to be in the middle of a disaster-movie revival (the Rock alone has topped neuvo variations on “Earthquake” and “The Towering Inferno”), it seems sensible enough that someone should blow the dust off 1977’s lesser-remembered 1976 “Two-Minute Warning,” in which a sniper terrorized an American football stadium. (The “disaster” part was really the panicked crowd stampede at the end.) Though actually what “Final Score” is most like, as the press materials duly note, is “‘Die Hard’ in a football stadium.”
If you think that sounds fun, you’d be right: Park your brain cells in the lobby, and this U.K. production about a terrorist attack on a London soccer stadium — with Dave Bautista as Bruce Willis plus 100 or so extra pounds of muscle — is an entertainingly over-the-top ride that doesn’t even try to be “credible.” It’s not quite daft or otherwise distinctive enough to be memorable.

Dave Bautista’s solo action career continues its hot streak (see also: Bushwick) with Final Score, a ludicrous-but-fun Die Hard homage that sees the big man taking on terrorists at a football match in London. The film might have its flaws, but it delivers enough action-packed entertainment to ensure Bautista won’t be facing relegation anytime soon.
As established – albeit to outlandish extremes – in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Bautista’s screen persona is essentially strong-but-sensitive, and he sticks closely to that template for his portrayal of Us military specialist Michael Knox, who arrives in London to visit the widow (Lucy Gaskell) and teenage daughter of his fellow soldier and best friend, who’s recently been killed in action.

Former WWE superstar Dave Bautista has been all over the news lately, but not for the right reasons. The man WWE fans know as Batista has been out promoting a new movie he is in called Final Score. However, questions are usually about his Guardians of the Galaxy role as Drax or whether or not he will come back to the WWE. When it comes to Guardians of the Galaxy, Bautista is angry that Disney fired director James Gunn based on a right-wing blog bringing up tweets from many years ago that Gunn had already acknowledged and apologized for years […]

No single character in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise has received a standalone movie, but that wouldn’t the case if Dave Bautista was calling the shots at Disney. The actor behind Drax the Destroyer revealed in a new video interview with MTV International that he pitched his own Marvel movie for his beloved supporting character.
“I really pushed and fought for the Drax standalone film but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen,” Bautista said. “I really wish they would because I think there’s a story to be told there and I think the fans would really love to see that story, even if it’s not me portraying Drax, I just think it is an interesting story to tell.”
Bautista said Drax’s origins in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would make for a “beautiful story” that has been “lost and overlooked a little bit.

Everyone loves Dave Bautista’s Drax, who effortlessly won the hearts of audiences with his over-literal sensibility and craving for bloody vengeance. The only people that might have some reservations about the character right now are Disney and Marvel Studios, who’ve faced blunt and angry criticism from Bautista about their decision to sack James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He’s been so consistent with his invective (not to mention his cavalier attitude towards spoiling Avengers 4) that many have concluded he’s trying to get out of his contract by forcing the studio to fire him.
That’s why it’s a little perplexing that we now find out that he’s been angling for a Drax spinoff movie. In an interview with MTV to promote his new film Final Score, he explained:
“You know I really wish they would tell more of the story of Drax’s family.

Day by day, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Dave Bautista is willing to stand his ground over the whole Disney/James Gunn ordeal – even if it costs him a plum gig on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Currently out promoting the hardboiled action thriller Final Score, Bautista spoke to HeyUGuys (h/t Cbm) about the current status of Guardians 3, and why he has no regrets about voicing his support of the ousted James Gunn.
Ever since Disney finalized its decision earlier this summer, the Avengers: Infinity War actor has been pretty vocal on social media, where he’s called out the Mouse House time and time again for severing ties with Gunn before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had a chance to get off the ground.
And while there are currently no signs of repercussions, it seems Bautista isn’t losing any sleep over his McU future…...

In the nicest way possible, Final Score is a completely absurd piece of cinema. Thankfully, this is a statement backed up by the film’s leading man, as we spoke to Dave Bautista about this unapologetically entertaining action thriller.
Bautista discusses why he feels audiences should go in with an open mind, and whether he himself is a fan of ‘soccer’ given the films ties to West Ham United. We also discuss his forthcoming production Stuber, and whether he is consciously stepping in to new genres in a bid to show off his range as an actor. This leads into a discussion about the challenges in overcoming stereotypes for actors who come out of WWE, and lastly, we ask him about Disney’s firing of James Gunn from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. As every Marvel fan knows, Dave Bautista’s been pretty vocal about his strong feelings on the topic of director James Gunn’s firing from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s fair to say that the actor and his Disney bosses are not seeing eye to eye on the matter and it’s possible this soured relationship has loosened his tongue while doing the press rounds for his latest movie, Final Score. In particular, the man who plays Drax has teased some details about next May’s Avengers 4.
In previous interviews, Bautista’s revealed that the Guardians will return from their deaths in Avengers: Infinity War, ready to sail off into the stars again for Vol. 3. And while speaking to Good Morning Britain, the former WWE star admitted he probably shouldn’t be talking so openly about things, and actually feels a sense of guilt now.

Since stepping away from his career as a professional wrestler, Dave Bautista has found huge success as a Hollywood star, appearing in movies such as Spectre, Blade Runner 2049 and, of course, the Guardians of the Galaxy films. It turns out he could have been part of the Star Wars saga as well, though. That is, if he wasn’t rejected twice.
While speaking with Flickering Myth to promote his new movie Final Score, Bautista admitted that appearing in Star Wars would have achieved a lifelong goal, but it sadly wasn’t to be on either occasion.
“I’ve actually auditioned for a couple of Star Wars [movies] and they’ve turned me down. It was always a dream of mine to be in a Star Wars film.”

Dave Bautista is continuing to speak out about his “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn being fired by Disney. Following a critical tweet in which he said it was “nauseating” to work for Disney after Gunn’s removal from the next “Guardians” sequel, Bautista is now threatening to quit the franchise all together if Disney trashes Gunn’s script. The actor spoke to ShortList ahead of the release of his September film “Final Score” and said his focus is now on making sure Gunn’s script is maintained.
“Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me,” Bautista said. “I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

I wasn't even going to bother with this because it sounded so stupid but because of Dave Bautista, I thought I'd give the trailer for Final Score a go.
Oh boy.
Bautista stars as a guy with special skills who is enjoying a soccer game with his niece. She is kidnapped, the entire stadium put on lockdown and the bad guys call him on his cell phone and tell him he has to find some other dude who is in the stadium, hiding out among 35,000 other soccer fans. The best part of this is that while this is all unfolding, most of the other spectators don't even know what's happening and the game keeps going as usual.
I cannot, cannot, roll my eyes hard enough at Final Score which also co-stars Pierce Brosnan (sporting a bizarre accent) and Ray Stevenson...

Star Wars fans everywhere rejoice. Billy Dee Williams, who was the original Lando Calrissian, is set to reprise the role in Episode IX.
Williams was due to appear at a sci-fi convention but pulled out at the last minute citing filming conflicts. This started a buzz amongst fans as to his return to a galaxy far away. It was later confirmed that Williams will be returning to Lucasfilms’ next instalment.
He was last seen in the iconic role back in 1983 in Return of the Jedi and has since reprised his character for various cartoon series and video games. He is also a regular on the convention circuit.
