Director Esteban Lema wanted to do a documentary about his family roots since he started on the Audiovisual Media School of the University of Los Andes, but it wasn't after two years in the school that he finally decided it was time to do it.
Just a month before start shooting, director Esteban Lema was robbed in Ecuador and as a consequence he lost his camera and some early footage he had for the documentary. His friend and classmate Diego Ramírez loaned him his camera so he could continue with the film.
