There’s nothing like a good car chase in a movie. Maybe it’s the daring-do of the stunt drivers that makes you feel you’re in danger even though you’re comfortably in your seat, or the high stakes of the moment in which the characters we’re rooting for will either get out of the situation or have a gruesome finale, but an impressive car-chase scene can make even a mediocre movie a beloved classic. What makes a car chase legendary, you ask? They’re the ones that keep you at the edge of your seat and actually fit in with the rest of the plot.

A love letter to The Princess Bride, a film that never fails to brighten a day.
The Princess Bride is 30 years old this year, an anniversary that feels truly inconceivable.
See related Fargo season 2 episode 10 review: Palindrome Fargo: how to make great TV from a great film
This is not going to be an article about the making of the film - Westley himself, Cary Elwes, wrote a wonderful book entitled As You Wish, which does a far better job of that than I ever could. Nor will this article be examining the release – i.e. how it died at the box office but became an instant classic upon VHS release (“For death cannot stop true love!”)
Instead this is my love letter to my favourite film of all time. A film that I love unconditionally with more passion and devotion than any adjective could allow me to describe.

1 | In the Sleepy Hollow finale, wouldn’t it have made more sense for Lara to sacrifice her soul to the devil — rather than Ichabod — given that there are basically two of her in this timeline (and she’s kinda the surplus one)?

Sales outfit has been at Efm with Submergence.
Embankment Films has appointed Max Pirkis as head of acquisitions and distribution with immediate effect.
Pirkis, who joined the London-based sales firm in 2013, now heads up and manages Embankment’s acquisitions slate while also co-ordinating international delivery and distribution of current Embankment titles.
Greg Martin, who previously worked for Working Title, reports to Pirkis as acquisitions and distribution executive. Pirkis replaces Sara May, who moves on from her consultancy role with Embankment and will shortly be announcing her own new venture.
Embankment co-founder Tim Haslam said: “In Max, we have nabbed and nurtured one of the brightest – and we are convinced that he is an industry star of the future. His expanded role and responsibility is an exciting opportunity for the company and our team.
