THE GANGSTER MATCHMAKER is an extremely low budget kung fu film from Taiwan that feels like it was filmed in just a couple of locations: a house and a clearing in the countryside. Unusually, the film has a contemporary setting, although it's limited to rural locales for the most part so that doesn't make much difference. The cast is unknown. The hero of the movie is a kung fu actor who has been causing problems on set. He romances a pretty young virginal girl but her father warns him off and then tragedy ensues. The bad guys in the film are particularly unimposing and make little addition to the narrative. Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells theme is ripped off at one point.
