Released online as a prologue to Prometheus, while not actually being in the movie. Also included in the special features on the Prometheus blu-ray.
This promotional video for Prometheus (2012) is included in a section of the Blu-Ray's special features called the 'Peter Weyland Archives'. The clip is accompanied by a text screen where Peter Weyland mentions a 'mentor and a long-departed competitor' who encouraged a corporate merger between his corporation and Weyland's. The document mentions that the mentor was a man who ran his corporation "like a God on top of a pyramid overlooking a city of angels", and he was trying to replicate the power of creation in an unoriginal way, by replicating organic humans instead of through robotics. Weyland also scoffs at the mentor's use of false memory implants to control the "genetic abominations", something that "literally blew up in the old man's face". This entire document, written by Blu-Ray producer Charles de Lauzirika, is a clear reference to Dr. Tyrell and his Tyrell Corporation (from Blade Runner (1982), also directed by Sir Ridley Scott), who created organic Replicants to be sold off-world as cheap slave labor, but was finally killed by one of his own creations who crushed his skull. Although this suggests that the Alien and Blade Runner franchises exist in the same fictional universe, De Lauzirika has stated that these bonus features were more meant as Easter eggs than true canonical information. However, as the information itself came from Scott and writer Damon Lindelof, and Scott himself has approved these bonus features, they can be considered canon. Scott later stated that he indeed considers both universes to be linked.
