Shooting fetish videos is Kendo's fetish
lor_3 February 2016
After watching dozens of mainstream Kendo video features with big-name casts, I've begun dipping back to the start of his career, where this 2004 project resides. Turns out the great man is great at one thing: fetish cinema, making the shooting of fetish content his particular fetish.

Video challenged me due to its U.S. distributor's rather sloppy (and stupid) retitling, which ended up in my buying a duplicate copy by mistake. More recently I am getting Part 1 in the mail to watch anon. This is correctly titled Masks 2, yet American Xcess dropped "Masks" from the title entirely (it remains on screen as they were too cheap to redo the title sequence) even though masks are a prime fetish on display. The fact that American Xcess released mainly British imports gives an indication of that company's level of intelligence (or dare I call it prevarication in labeling?).

Kendo's lengthy 5 segments, featuring some top talent like Poppy Morgan, tattooed Janca and the ubiquitous Pascal White, are fitted in outré fetish gear involving latex and grotesque shoes, but the most interesting feature is their strange plastic masks, sort of a Jean-Paul Gaultier impression of a WW II gas mask. The Brits have many kinks, which often show up in their porn videos, but the fascination with gas masks eludes my comprehension, just as the more general fascination with women smoking cigarettes. As a movie buff, I've seen tens of thousands of scenes of women smoking, since of course it used to be normal decades back, but suddenly it is considered "kinky". Go figure.

Kendo makes excellent use of color, often contrasting black with red latex and I enjoy watching these early works because they were made before he unfortunately discovered the avant-garde world of weird editing. The influence of Tanya Hyde is much in evidence, and fans of extreme hardcore penetrations and folks dressed up all rubbery should check this one out. John Stagliano had trumped all the Brits with his still very popular "Fashionistas", but Kendo, Hyde, Strangelove and other Blighty pornographers also have something to offer in the genre.
