English version of "Burza na wyspie", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, consists of two separate ~5 minute episodes titled "The Barometer" (as episode 16) and "Island Treasures" (as episode 17). They were originally broadcast in the UK in 1983 on Central Independent Television, as part of its "Watch It!" strand of children's programming. The latter UK episode is also including footage from the episode "Powrót z wyspy".
Episode "The Barometer":
- The original opening shots of the sea and the island are missing from the UK version.
- Some shots are rearranged or missing almost throughout the episode, and the scene after the tent has collapsed is shorter in the UK version.
- Notable soundtrack cues in the UK version by composers Steve Shill and Graeme Miller include a deep breathy mode of singing when the Hattifatteners appear and swarm the tent.
Episode "Island Treasures":
- The first half of the UK episode is taken from the original episode "Burza na wyspie" (#14). The Moomin family wakes up after a stormy night and watch how the Hattifatteners sail away. After a shot of a butterfly flying over Snork Maiden and her flowers on the beach, the UK episode cuts to another original episode, "Powrót z wyspy" (#15). The missing from the UK episode is the ending sequence of the original episode "Burza na wyspie", where the children are playing and swimming in the water, and bath under the sun. Snufkin is also playing a flute.
- The second half of the UK episode is taken from the original episode "Powrót z wyspy" (#15), starting from the shot where Moomintroll dives into the water from the rocks on the shore.
