The Wolf Column in the Laußnitzer Heide in Germany appears prominently in the middle of the film. It commemorates the hunt on November 11, 1740, when Rudolph Siegemunden von Nostitz (1696-1754), son of Gotthard Rudolph von Nostitz (1674-1736), shot an 82-pound wolf. It is one of the few memorial stones in Saxony dedicated to a wild animal.
