In 2019, England’s Prince Andrew agreed to sit down with BBC Newsnight to talk about his alleged friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The ensuing interview went so poorly for the prince that it spawned not one but two upcoming dramatizations.

Ariana Grande is in her Blond Ambition era with her new single “Yes, And?” The track is the lead single off her upcoming seventh album, which she has been teasing over the last month.
The sharp tune features a ballroom-ready house beat, inspired by Madonna’s iconic 1990 single “Vogue.” On Grande’s single, the star gives a middle finger to her critics and reminds everyone to mind their business. “No, I’m so done with caring/What you think/No, I won’t hide,” she sings on the second chorus.

Few American filmmakers of the last 40 years await a major rediscovery like Hal Hartley, whose traces in modern movies are either too-minor or entirely unknown. Thus it’s cause for celebration that the Criterion Channel are soon launching a major retrospective: 13 features (which constitutes all but My America) and 17 shorts, a sui generis style and persistent vision running across 30 years. Expect your Halloween party to be aswim in Henry Fool costumes.
Speaking of: there’s a one-month headstart on seasonal programming with the 13-film “High School Horror”––most notable perhaps being a streaming premiere for the uncut version of Suspiria, plus the rare opportunity to see a Robert Rodriguez movie on the Criterion Channel––and a retrospective of Hong Kong vampire movies. A retrospective of ’70s car movies offer chills and thrills of a different sort

The Boys and Invincible already had enough in common with both being superhero shows on Amazon Prime. But as early as season 1, The Boys added an element to the show that wasn’t present in the comics. This minor change only added more similarities between the two unconventional superhero shows.
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for The Boys comic series and television show]

The Boys television series took a few creative liberties that differentiated it from its comic book counterpart. Alot of these changes ranged from adding characters who don’t exist in the comic. The Podcast Academy, a group of 1,000-plus industry creators and executives, awarded Campside Media and Sony Music Entertainment’s Chameleon: Wild Boys with the top honor at this year’s 2023 Ambie Awards.
Wild Boys, which serves as the third season of Campside’s Chameleon series, uncovers the story of two young men who claimed to have been raised in the wilderness in British Columbia and proceeded to fool a small town. The eight-part series was led by Sam Mullins with producer Abukar Adan, senior producer Ashleyanne Krigbaum, editor Karen Duffin and ep Matthew Shaer.
“I had nothing happening in my career. I had two young kids, I was working in a taco restaurant, and I never made a podcast before. And Campside deserves so much credit because I cold-emailed these guys, and they just believed in the story, and they believed in me, and they changed my life, and I’ll never forget it,...

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Hillary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, are sitting on a park bench on the grounds of the Palais Royal.
The former secretary of state and US presidential nominee turns to her daughter and asks: “Do you know what happens if you drink too much tea in Paris?”
Chelsea, an International Relations DPhil who is also a children’s author and global health advocate, appears bewildered.
“You’re-a-peein’,” her mother – once the most powerful woman in politics – tells her with a guffaw.
Except the real punchline is that this is a scene from their new Apple TV Plus series called Gutsy. The joke, if you think about it, is that this is what one of the savviest and most successful people in American life has been reduced to doing for work.

Even Nintendo was unsure of how gamers would react to the DS. Initially marketed as a “third pillar” that would stand side-by-side with the Game Boy Advance and Gamecube, the first dedicated two-screen handheld was initially seen as a gimmick. It was Nintendo’s last-ditch attempt to fend off the impending Sony PlayStation Portable which seem poised to conquer the market.
But if the initial doubters learned anything, it’s to never bet against a Nintendo handheld. Not only did the DS go on to be a massive success; its final sales figures made it Nintendo’s most successful console ever, handheld or otherwise. The addition of a second screen worked remarkably well and inspired developers to create one of the best libraries in gaming history.
These are the 20 best Nintendo DS games ever.

Exclusive: The just-concluded Tribeca Festival, which offered signs of the industry and culture bouncing back from the coronavirus pandemic, drew solid crowds both in person and online, according to new data from organizers.
About 100,000 people attended the 250-plus events held over 12 days, everything from screenings to performances to talks. Tribeca, whose 2020 edition was wiped out by Covid-19, became the first major North American fest to host in-person events. It opened and closed, respectively, with In the Heights and Dave Chappelle‘s untitled documentary. Like the majority of films at this year’s fest, they were both world premieres.
With limits on in-person ticket sales, the decision was made to mount an ambitious online offering, Tribeca At Home. The online hub for a wide range of features, shorts, conversations, filmmaker Q&As and other material racked up 115,000 overall views, the festival said. The streaming app was distributed on Roku and other platforms,...

If you like quirky characters, deadpan comedy and the occasional stylistic flourish, you may enjoy this Welsh indie effort, which Ryan Andrew Hooper and Matt Redd have developed from their 2019 short, Ambition. It's not one for everybody but won some loyal fans when screening at the Glasgow Film Festival, and for all the difficulties it runs into, it certainly has spirit.
The film focuses on an unnamed tollbooth operator (Michael Smiley) working on a remote rural road which it's not clear why many people would want to drive along anyway, and collecting so little that it's difficult to see how he can earn enough to pay for his sandwiches. He's been there for years and is well known in his small community, but unbeknownst to people there, he has a secret past. When, one day, an elegantly dressed stranger in an expensive yellow car recognises him, he knows that...

New Line Cinema may be known as the "House That Freddy Built," but there's no doubt that founder Bob Shaye certainly laid the foundation. A prolific producer who has helped hundreds of movies see the light of day, Shaye (who went on to co-found Unique Features with Michael Lynne after parting ways with New Line) returns to the director's chair with Ambition, a new psychological thriller about a violinist who finds herself surrounded by death and obsession in the days leading up to her biggest performance. With Ambition now in theaters and on VOD and digital platforms from Shout! Studios, Daily Dead caught up with Shaye to discuss his return to directing for the first time since 2007's The Last Mimzy, collaborating with his sister Lin (who he calls the "Betty White of horror"), and he also reflected on workin with Wes Craven during the now legendary filming of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

"You need to pull it together." Shout Studios has unveiled a trailer for the "gripping, suspenseful thriller" titled Ambition, the latest film directed by producer Bob Shaye. In Ambition, Katherine Hughes stars as a young aspiring violinist preparing for a competition. She's incredibly confidant and gets wrapped up in a frightening trap that she has to find her way out of. It raises the question: If an insane person is telling a story, is it real? That sounds like quite an intriguing introduction to this film. The full cast includes Sonoya Mizuno, Giles Matthey, Kyanna Simone, Jared Bankens, Deneen Tyler, Dylan McNamara, and Jordan Salmon, with a special appearance by Lin Shaye. Ambition is said to "create a world where desire and revenge converge into a questionable reality." Seems a bit like Black Swan, but with even more horror.
