Painfully bad acting
jonlavezzi17 November 2020
I've seen plenty of low budget movies with pretty good actors but watching this was like nails on a chalkboard. I could barely follow the plot because of it. they have gone to the local community theater and find better actors.

The forced dialogue in this movie is way too sophisticated the ages of the kids and comes off as extremely hokey and amateurish. I kept laughing at the overacting of the cast having to try to make sense of it but I blame it on poor direction and the script. I mean, the main kid isn't even scared when scary stuff happens, he just stands there and looks straight ahead. The story is somewhat loose and the film moves incredibly slow. The scenic elements were good and the film quality is good but I'm hard pressed to say much more about this movie.

Little goes on here

Warning: Spoilers
LOST CREEK is a children's independent film about a rash of disappearances in the local woodlands which end up being investigated by the usual intrepid children. The main lead is a young boy who ends up befriending a mysterious young girl who has appeared in the locality at the same time the disappearances are taking place. This film has the whole Stephen King/STRANGER THINGS vibe going on, and it's fairly well made, but the lack of money means that little happens.

For one thing, you can't tell for sure from the description on Prime that it's a kids' movie. I wasn't sure. I did suspect it was a kids' movie, but I gave it a try anyway because there are a lot of kids' movies I like, especially kids halloween movies. I'm the kind of movie-watcher who usually can't tell the difference between good acting and bad acting, but in this movie, even I could tell the acting was terrible. You generally can't expect great acting from kids, but it wasn't just the kids who were bad actors. Everyone in it was bad. The script was bad. The climax was bad. You can't really tell how they defeated the monster. It was just suddenly gone. The plot concept in general had potential to be done well, but it wasn't. This only way I would recommend this is if you're really desperate for a way to entertain your not-very-picky 9-year-old for a while.

Warrants a viewing but ultimately falls short of its potential

I recently viewed "Lost Creek" (2016) on Prime. The film follows the journey of a single mother and her son who must relocate to an old family home. As the son adapts to his new school and befriends others, he becomes entranced by tales of the nearby woods. Spending considerable time there with one of his newfound friends, he begins to notice peculiar occurrences in the town that only he seems to perceive. To save the neighborhood, he must convince his new companions to acknowledge these phenomena and help him conquer it.

Directed by Colin Adams-Toomey in his directorial debut, the movie features performances by Oliver Stockman, Brynna Bartoo, Lisa Coruzzi (Conciliate), Bethany Duff, Brendan Duff, and Collin Duff.

Lost Creek is one of those movies with a solid story and premise but needed a larger budget, a more accomplished cast, and a seasoned production team. The storyline is a blend of "The Sixth Sense" and "Let Me In," but its intensity is constrained by budget limitations and an inexperienced cast. The child actors deliver commendable performances, and their dialogue is well-written and authentically executed. Surprisingly, the younger cast members outshine their adult counterparts. Despite being somewhat predictable, the storyline remains engaging and worth watching unfold.

In conclusion, "Lost Creek" warrants a viewing but ultimately falls short of its potential. I would rate this a 4.5/10 and recommend watching it once.

Not really a horror, but still
Gunnar_R_Ingibjargarson13 February 2019
Three young kids, starts to having nightmares and connect it with a monster in they're dream. Lost Creek might not be everybody cup of tea, but it's very well made, and the young actors do very well, in this beginning of they're acting.

I've seen bad but this one...
orionhi22 August 2021
There's no shortage of really bad movies on the various streaming services but the terrible acting in this one tops them all. I have sat through many terrible movies just to give it chance but the acting was so absolutely horrible I couldn't make it past the 30 minute mark. Regardless of a story, plot, special effects, the acting is so bad it's not worth watching,

Good for 12 and under
jay2004a6 September 2018
Some decent scary sequences. The slow and purposeful hypnotic pace makes the scares that much more of a punch. Would recommend for 12 and under.

Hoping the director gets a better budget and actors next time. Could be a scary classic ifso.

Overly ambitious
zorrooro-411-52272722 January 2022
Lost Creek, although it started off well enough, gradually gets the viewer lost and dragged down into a mire of mixed attempts to create a sort of psychological and philosophical pretense of preadolescent angst. Not really a horror film at all although there are a couple of good attempts at it. Plot seems to get lost meandering like the creek itself.

Excellent, but for kids
millerteachglobal20 August 2021
This is an excellent movie, but it is also a kids' movie. It is most appropriate for kids about ages 7-12 or so. It is just scary enough, but not too scary. It has a great message, enough depth to make kids think about it, and is very emotional. I see why the adults here rate it low, but if you understand that it is made for kids, like little kids, then you will see that is really great. It is a perfect example of how a kids movie/story should be done. I write young Adult fiction, and I learned lots from this movie about how to construct a story for an even younger audience. I am in no way related to the making of this film.

This is some fire movie
elistafford-0852426 July 2023
I don't know how to explain this but this movie is fire, it has life lessons, and great quality actions. It's more of a family/horror movie. I love this movie so much i wish there was lost creek 2 and the only thing abt it I dislike is I'd wish the story would continue and my question of this movie is that was Maggie character really dead or is it just like hey I see you as a kid but adults don't see them. Like invisibility powers but I give this movie a infinity out of 10. I love lost creek. #lostcreek4life #lostcreekstrong. And for the people reading this this is not a bad movie, I love it..
