A review of this type of movie should include a little information upfront about the Dutch film industry and the directors. The Dutch have this particular way of making movies. Slow and not very interesting story without any depth. The shallow dialogues, who aren't at all written for a normal conversation are terrifying to watch. Next to the fact the acting is very poor. That being said, "Ron Goossens, Low Budget Stuntman" is a humorous story, with humorous characters who ought not to betaken seriously. The producing friends "Steffen & Flip" are well-known for their type of comedy. One who watches this movie should be familiar with their other works, to set your expectations for this movie.

I did expect a movie slightly better than the New Kids movie. They had a chance to introduce a new story and characters, and they are more experienced in directing a movie. The story telling was very slow at the beginning, but it did get a little interesting when they made a overlap with their previous movie. The emotion of the character was drunk & sad throughout the whole movie. At the beginning i thought it was kind of funny, but it sort of annoyed me.

All and all a nice movie to watch, considering my knowledge of the directors and cast. I hope they will do better in the future.

Typical case of tricked by the trailer...
p-biemans-19 December 2020
Unlike the preview suggested, the movie itself I found devoid of suspense, character development or even decent comic scenes - apart from the end scene joke by Henry van Loon 's character ' following his dreams'... Interesting was the high number of cameo's by Dutch movie history hotshots, probably because they too were tricked into this by the filmmakers.

Warning: Spoilers
There are a few vaguely likable things about "Ron Goossens", such as a certain rash boldness and some memorable stunts. For the rest... Now here is a disagreeable movie : mean, noisy, sloppy and obscene.

"Ron Goossens" also manages to be boring, which is no small feat for a work containing loud crashes and apocalyptic explosions. The boredom is caused by the fact that nearly every character is nasty. Some characters are nasty because they're randy, others are nasty because they're manipulative, others are nasty because they're greedy, others are nasty because they're dishonest, still others are nasty because they're randy and manipulative and greedy and dishonest (and so on) - but the key word is "nasty". This robs the movie of almost every chance of establishing dramatic conflict or contrast.

The movie is even unable to create a basic emotional interplay between light and shade, which tends to fall under "Moviemaking 101", right behind "How to find your way to the studio" and "How to activate the ON button on your camera".

In case you think I'm overstating the awfulness of the movie : one of the story lines involves a woman telling a man that he is the father of her unborn child and that she will undergo an abortion unless he does exactly as she asks. Every now and then she provides a helpful count- down : it is now ten.. eight.. three.. days until termination. Meanwhile it becomes increasingly unclear whether the woman will keep the child, regardless of what her partner does, or whether she has already undergone the abortion and is just yanking his chain. Regardless of how one feels about abortion, it is a safe bet that a sane woman would not treat the fetus in her belly as a Schrödinger bargaining chip in an emotional extortion game.

It's strange that a movie this awful found its way to the screen. Possibly it was sold as a hard-hitting satire on the sad state of a certain kind of Dutch cinema. The numerous in-jokes featuring Dutch directors, actors, celebrities.. etc. seem to point that way. Still, making a bad movie in order to complain about other bad movies makes little sense. It's like shooting a rhino in order to complain about poaching, or torching a Rubens in order to complain about disregard for historic heritage. It's also possible that the movie was sold as a satire about, say, trash social media or about people famous for being famous, but again, filling a screen with random idiots screaming, puking and humping is unlikely to do much for reticence or civility.

Anyway, I was left with a renewed appreciation for people who say goodbye to society and go live on a tiny island far, far removed from trading routes.

The most hilarious dutch movie I have ever seen
dirkvelle2 February 2017
Yesterday evening I watched "Ron Goossens, Low budget Stuntman" and I am still laughing at moments. I think its is the most hilarious dutch movie I have ever seen. OK, I admit that the story line is very thin but that is compensated by the absurd humor throughout the movie and the funny references to many events that happened in the Netherlands or references to other movies (e.g. a reference to the movie "seven years a slave' by a scene where Ron is doing stunts in a movie "seven years a black Pete". If you don't understand those references, then you miss much of the humor. Also the end of the movie is totally politically incorrect with a reference to an event in the Netherlands that caused much dismay because it concerns a case about child-abuse. But I can't help it.....I laughed very loud and so did many others. Go and see it!

this story, questionable whether you can call it one, was horrible. I've been sick for 5 days now after having seen this movie. at work, my colleagues have been asking me why I've been acting so strange lately, and if I'm doing OK. the only answer i could give them was that i had watched Ron gooses low budget stuntman. Ron gooses was a low budget stuntman, but i think there was even less money budgeted for producing this movie. such a waste of my time. i guess they picked a random person out of the streets and gave him the main character's role since anyone could translate the 20 words being spoken by the main character.... if you really hate someone you should recommend him/her this movie

A story about alcoholism, adultery, and redemption
frans-177 February 2017
You know what you can expect from the Haars brothers, and the other crew from the "New Kids" movies. You get crude jokes, blunt humor, funny moments and stunts, and of course a whole lot of talk in Brabant dialect. But boy is it funny. The cameo's are great (Waldemar Toorenstra is particularly good), and overall it's a pretty fun story. There are certain moments that seem to drag on a bit, but the rest of the movie more than makes up for that. So if you want to see a hilarious movie with politically VERY incorrect jokes (some will say offensive, but those people should just stay home and watch RTL4), go see this movie. And well, if you liked New Kids Turbo and Nitro, it's obviously a no-brainer.

Oh yeah, one more thing.... "Ik ben echt KEI-LAM!"
