On October 5th, 1999 an avalanche on Mount Shishapangma took the lives of Filmmaker David Bridges and Climber Alex Lowe. The expedition to Shishapangma was a film project as part of the North Face Expeditions television series on NBC Sports. In late April 2016 the bodies of the mountain climber and cameraman had been found in the melting glacier, 16 years after they were buried in the Himalayan avalanche. A third climber, Conrad Anker, survived.
