The first two episodes of season 1 so far was really good. Part 1 wasn't without it's problems like the too wordy dialogue and K Todd Freeman didn't do anything for me as Mr. Poe, but it was a good start while Part 2, while also not perfect, was a slight improvement and both episodes were a really good representation of the first installment of the book series.
The Reptile Room: Part One is one of the best episodes where Season 1 gets better. My only quibble is that K Todd Freeman still doesn't do anything for me as Mr. Poe because of the way the character was written.
Everything else is great. The child acting from the Bauldelaire children has been getting slightly better even though I preferred Sunny from the 2004 version. The production design continues to impress me as well made and superb, the pacing does get better, the directing is also good, and the music score continues to fit the setting of the show. Aside from K Todd Freeman, the rest of the acting is still good with Neil Patrick Harris continuing to steal the show as the sinister Count Olaf while Aasif Mandvi does an admirable job as Uncle Monty.
Overall, one of the best episodes of the first season. :)
