This video was originally banned by MTV due to legal threats from Michael Jackson's attorneys, who objected to how it mocked when his hair caught fire while filming a Pepsi commercial.
The video mocks Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Spuds MacKenzie the mascot for Bud Light, and "Calvin Klein's Obsession," even though no rock stars were involved with advertisements for the latter two products. It is modeled on the Michelob commercials Steve Winwood, Genesis and Eric Clapton had been doing at the time, and the title mocks Budweiser's "This Bud's For You" slogan.
Although MTV originally banned it, they later changed their minds and it went on to win Best Video of the Year at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.
