In a backstage segment AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson known as The Club (previously Bullet Club in NJPW) reunited after being split in the brand extension draft. This segment also marked an appearance from Finn Balor (who was the original leader of Bullet Club in NJPW), this segment was also the first time Styles and Balor were seen together on television.
There was a backstage confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho over the finish of the main event match. Unsure whether the finish was planned or not, Jericho confronted Lesnar until Triple H and Vince McMahon broke up the situation with McMahon stating that the ending was indeed planned.
The main event was criticized due to a controversial finish when Randy Orton received elbow shots to the head from Brock Lesnar. Orton was gushing blood as a result and caused the referee to give a TKO win to Brock Lesnar. The incident undermined WWE's concussion efforts and Brock Lesnar was fined $500.
Alexa Bliss and Carmella competed in their first WWE Pay Per View match when they both fought in a six woman tag team match. Alexa Bliss teamed with Natalya and Nikki Bella, and Carmella teamed with Becky Lynch and Naomi.
The first WWE pay per view to have two different world championship matches since Survivor Series 2013.
