In a small town, eleven-year-old schoolboy Frankie is brutally murdered. The fingerprints of Terry Maitland, a youth baseball coach and respected citizen, are found at the scene. Several witnesses also point to him.
The police arrest a suspect in front of the whole town, without waiting for further evidence or DNA tests. However, the "killer" does not admit guilt and claims to have an alibi – which he has, as he was seen in another place at the time of the murder. But the locals already hate Terry and his family.

What We Do In The Shadows will end with its upcoming season 6, it’s been announced: more on the news here.
What We Do In The Shadows began life as a feature film in 2014, written and directed by Flight Of The Concords star Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. The latter of those two has gone on to direct Jojo Rabbit and has become a creative force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directing Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, infusing the franchise with his signature humorous approach (even if he took the job to keep food on the table.)
What We Do In The Shadows inspired two television series. The first was Wellington Paranormal, which began in 2016 and followed police officers Minogue and O’Leary, played by Mike Minogue and Karen O’Leary respectively, who were minor characters in the film. It ran for four seasons from 2018 to 2022.

“Bad Behaviour” is a family affair in more ways than one. It centers on mother Lucy and daughter Dylan, both of whom work in the entertainment industry. Alice Englert (“Ginger & Rosa”), who wrote, directed, and stars as Dylan, would know a little something about that — she’s Jane Campion’s daughter. The “Power of the Dog” auteur even makes a cameo in the film.
Though “Bad Behaviour” is playfully meta, it’s not needlessly self-referential. Englert separates herself as a filmmaker with this screwy tale of modern narcissism (although she and her mother do both have a thing for guru characters). “Bad Behaviour” is bright and lively (not Campion’s wheelhouse) but, like its characters, it’s also aimless.
Englert clearly wants to say something meaningful about mothers, daughters, acting, female celebrity, social-media culture, spirituality, and mental health, but she’s not yet deft enough to tackle all of these things at once.

CBS’ “Big Brother” scored a whopping 0.81 rating in the advertiser-coveted audience demographic Wednesday night, leading all of primetime. Though the episode didn’t post the biggest overall audience of the night, it was still far and away the highest-rated.
Still, in raw viewership, it was no match for NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” which attracted 5.4 million total viewers to become Wednesday night’s most-watched program. Unsurprisingly, NBC was the most-watched overall network on the night.

CBS' all-reality Wednesday got underway in winning fashion.
Big Brother Season 24 got underway with 3.7 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating in the demo, easily winning the night for CBS.
Granted, the series was down a little vs. last summer, but it remains one of the network's strongest performers.
If the show can hold at these levels, it will remain a strong option for CBS.
Meanwhile, the series debut of The Challenge USA came in at 2.2 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in the demo.
That's a solid number for the summer, and if it can hold at these levels, it should be back on the schedule next summer.
The spinoff of the MTV counterpart also improved upon Love Island's last summer bow.
Both shows powered CBS to a night on par with Wednesdays in-season.
Over on The CW, Mysteries Decoded opened its new season with 550,000 viewers and a 0.0 rating in the demo.

The inaugural network broadcast of The Challenge: USA was a boon to CBS on Wednesday in primetime. The spinoff of the successful MTV franchise, together with the 24th season of Big Brother, helped CBS to win the night overall with 2.95 million viewers.

That’s up 233 from last year’s cable premiere of the franchise and up 18 from last summer’s broadcast season premiere of Love Island on July 7.

With its list of new releases for July 2022, HBO Max is stepping up its TV game. Not that any entity associated with “It’s Not TV, It’s HBO” would ever not bring the televised goods, but the small screen is of particular consequence this month.
The middle of July is jam-packed with TV goodies like docuseries The Anarchists (July 10), rescued animated project Tuca & Bertie season 3 (July 11), and the latest Nathan Fielder creation The Rehearsal (July 15). The real heavy hitter arrives later on though. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin premieres on July 28 and will introduce the next generation of the Pll franchise. It doesn’t have a release date yet but July will also host season 3 of the delightful Harley Quinn at some point.
HBO Max’s movie offerings aren’t as deep this month. The Bob’s Burgers Movie (July 12) and We Met In Virtual Reality (July 27) are really the only originals of note.

Mike Minogue has never been someone who is obsessed with being in the limelight. Still, however, the lights and cameras of the entertainment industry have managed to find him anyway. Mike is a talented storyteller who started his professional acting journey more than a decade ago. Although it took a while for things to really get off the ground, Mike has been working consistently for the last several years. Most people will recognize him most for his role as Officer Minogue in the TV series Wellington Paranormal. Hopefully, we’ll see him take on more memorable roles in the future. Keep

Photo: ‘Wellington Paranormal’ Doubling Down and Finding Success As we have written about on this very site, there is an abundance of incredible comedic talent running rampant and controlling our cultural zeitgeist right now coming from New Zealand, and that is a very good thing. Lost in all of the talk about Taika Waititi’s incredibly meteoric rise to prominence as one of the most in-demand filmmakers in the game, is the work of him and his frequent collaborator, Jemaine Clement. Perhaps best known as one half of the comedic musical duo and show of the same name ‘Flight of the Conchords’, Clement has been behind some of the most impressive comedic work of the last two decades and his collaborations with Waititi have produced some of the best comedy on television today. The entertainment industry is full of people who don’t get nearly as much credit as they deserve, and Ben Fransham is one of them. Since making his on-screen appearance in 1994, Ben has been on a wild ride. Although it took a few years for his career to start gaining traction, Ben got a big opportunity in 2008 when he was cast in the TV series Legend of the Seeker. Since then, he has been working pretty consistently and he has built a solid resume. Some of his most recognizable projects include The Shannara Chronicles and Wellington Paranormal. No matter

Karen O’Leary isn’t your typical actress. She didn’t grow up wanting to work in the entertainment industry and she doesn’t seem to have much interest in becoming a huge star. Still, however, the acting bug found its way to Karen, and she has proven to be quite magical in front of the camera. She made her first on-screen appearance in 2014 in a movie called What We Do in the Shadows. Since then, most of her acting has been on the small screen. Karen is probably best known for her role as officer O’Learly in the TV series Wellington Paranormal.

For all the deliberate attempts at launching a successful shared universe that came in the wake of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who could've predicted that "What We Do in the Shadows" would accidentally end up doing exactly that? But that's what happened. Between Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's original (and still terrific) 2014 horror-mockumentary, its New Zealand spinoff series "Wellington Paranormal," and FX's own "What We Do in the Shadows" TV show, the "Shadows"-verse is not only real, it's also going stronger than ever.

For Round 3 of Wellington Paranormal, this hilariously spooky mockumentary about a New Zealand police squad tasked with taking down supernatural threats finds Officers O’Leary and Minogue (Karen O’Leary and Mike Minogue) facing “some of their most dangerous cases yet,” says co-creator Paul Yates. (Credit: Stan Alley/New Zealand Documentary Board Ltd) “First, there’s an invisible entity that’s a little bit ‘handsy’ — at least we thought they were hands!” Future calls include a hairy forest-dwelling beast, a sentient blob of sewage grease, ghosts dressed à la Where’s Waldo? and a meteorite crash. Per Yates: “Just a normal week on patrol for New Zealand’s favorite paranormal cops.” Wellington Paranormal, Season 3 Premiere, Wednesday, June 22, 9/8c, The CW...

With its list of new releases for June 2022, HBO Max is joining in what should be a TV summer to remember.
Not content to let Netflix’s Stranger Things or Prime Video’s The Boys to dominate the summer TV landscape, HBO is coming through with a new season of one of its big hits. Westworld season 4 is set to premiere June 26 on both HBO and HBO Max. What will this season of the increasingly confusing sci-fi drama be about? Per HBO’s synopsis it will be “A dark odyssey about the fate of sentient life on earth.” So you know, only that.
Irma Vep is the only other Max Original of note this month. Based on a 1996 cult classic of the same name, this limited series stars Alicia Vikander as a disillusioned movie star looking to remake the early 20th century French silent film serial Les Vampires.
