The best First person RPG dungeon crawler preceding Shining Force series
crosswalkx27 March 2018
As you know this is the first Shining Force game although Shining Force 1 and 2 would come out later on. This is a first person view dungeon crawler turn based RPG games you start off as the main hero in the game you go to the castle to find out you're father is missing and the princess is kidnapped. The evil Dark Sol threatens to take over the kingdom and the hero has to stop him.

You then get to stop by in town to buy weapons, armor, items, forging, weapons, armor, then you go to the castle dungeon which by the way, you'll be spending most of the time fighting monsters, level grinding, money grinding, you'll later recruit 2 allies Milo and Pyra who can use both weapons and magic spells. If you all die in the dungeon, don't worry it won't be game over, but you'll lose half of your gold you've earned.

It's very easy to get lost in the game especially if you're in first person mode. Also you'll want to carry herbs and antidote plants and smelling salts, otherwise you'll be poisoned or worse paralyzed. Your magic can get drained on magic draining floors. There are treasure traps to watch out for and death spells which can kill you.

I like the some of the weapons Milo and Pyra get to equip including Flail, Great Flail which attacks 2 times, super flail attacks 3 times but is harder to find and the whips including the Hex Whip although its cursed and tangles Pyra don't uncurse it you'll need it. Sadly the Hero's weapon can only attack once.

I like the funny spanking scene where Pyra's mother and father visit at the Tavern and she spanks Pyra's bottom. Although spanking isn't shown much in video games, I do get to see it in Final Fantasy 8 with the mother spanking her child.

I highly recommend this game to Shining Force Fans, keep in mind this is a level grinding and money grinding game so you'll need alot of time and patience's to get through this RPG game. It's sadly no longer available on the Wii virtual console. But you can find it on Sega Flashback system or on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for PS3 or Xbox 360 which is worth your time.
