Life Behind the Mask: Being Chucky (2016)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Actor Ed Gale is the focus of this forty-minute documentary that covers his career but the main focus is on CHILD'S PLAY. Gale was the actor who played Chucky during the scenes where a puppet wouldn't work and we get to hear from the actor who shares a great number of stories about the production as well as other films that he did. You know, as Gale puts it, there's a large portion of movie making that deals with short actors doing roles like this so it was really fascinating getting to hear from someone who was in the business for so many years. He does a wonderful job at talking about the production of CHILD'S PLAY including discussing the scenes that he was in including the fire sequence, which is discussed in detail. He also talks about which sequels he refused to work on and why he came back for BRIDE OF CHUCKY where he talks about that film. Fans of the series will certainly love this documentary but it's also wonderful to hear about this portion of the business that is often overlooked.
