Ilse Gärtner's dog gets loose and returns with a severed hand, retrieved from the municipal road cleaning machine. Driver Maxl Flöter pretends to ignore what happened. The hand is identified by its wedding ring as Tina Schreiber's recently missing husband Josef, she too claims utter surprise. Josef spent his last evening in Brit Baumbichler's inn, dining with local farmers, and was leaning heavy on them to buy his employer's products, based on dubiously patent-protected natural organisms. DNA tests also find a secret paternity.
