- A male main character is picked up in a bar by another man. They then proceed to the molly-house, an underground club frequented by men, and male couples can be seen dancing and kissing.
- As one man is leaving to return home, he exchanges a brief passionate kiss with another man and they agree to stay in touch. It is clear they are both closeted gay men.
- In more than one scene, Lady Edith is seen in her undergarments. It is clear she has female breasts under her clothing.
