Parveen Babi Starred In Super Hit movies like Namak Halal, Kaalia, Shaan, Deewar, and More. (Photo Credit – IMDb/Instagram)
The late 70s and 80s superstar Parveen Babi is a star whose loss is a remnant in Hindi Cinema. Her charm and ability to translate emotions through subtlety and grace made the movies she starred in more affluent. Multiple heartbreaks, a bout with schizophrenia, and an untimely death at the age of 50 marked the end of the starlet’s life. But did you know she once ran behind Mahesh Bhatt without stopping him after they broke up? She also ended up in a mental hospital in New York.
Parveen Babi‘s life stories are no less than a saga; it had everything: love, heartbreak, sadness, and tragedy. Amar Akbar Anthony, Namak Halal, Shaan, and The Burning Train are just a few of the classic Hindi films she starred in. And while...

Mumbai, Feb 24: Actress Rumana Molla recently appeared in the web film Bawri Chhori. She agrees with the growing opinion that, more than their craft, an actor gains popularity for their presence on social media these days.
"I just realised that when it comes to the introduction of an actor to casting directors, or even gaining visibility, everything is designed through social media. People will check your number of followers on social media and the kind of content you are posting there. That, somehow has become a reflection of who you are or the way you want to be taken by the audience as an actor or a celebrity," Rumana told Ians.
"It is their choice but I believe that for an actor, working on craft is way more important. I have been doing theatre, training myself in acting, attending workshop because learning the craft helps to improve the art.

Mumbai, Oct 28 (Ians) Actress Divya Dutta wanted to be like Amitabh bachchan as a child.
"Ever since I can remember, I would dance on 'Khaike paan Banaras wala'! I would dance on all the Amitabh Bachchan dance numbers and entertain everyone around me. My mother was a doctor. Whenever she brought over friends home, I would go to them and say 'I want to show you a dance', and become the centre of attraction. The aunties would clap, laugh and give me gulab jamun! I would dress like Mr Bachchan, wrap mumma's dupatta around my head like Mr Bachchan did in many films," Divya recalled, speaking to Ians.
"I think I used to like the reactions I would get from everyone as child. I wanted to be like Mr Bachchan! In my class I was the most popular child. As mumma is a Doctor, and education was always the most important thing in our childhood.

It’s always something with the Indian censors.
This time, it’s the refusal of the Central Board of Film Certification (Cbfc) to grant filmmaker Alankrta Shrivastava’s “Lipstick Under My Burkha” certification for a theatrical release in India. The film, a drama following four women in small-town India exploring sexual empowerment, freedom from patriarchy, and personal fulfillment won the Oxfam Award for Best Film on Gender Equality at the Mumbai Film Festival last October and the Spirit of Asia Award at the 2016 Tokyo International Film Festival, with upcoming screenings at festivals everywhere from Miami to Glasgow. The board’s rejection of the film reignites familiar outrage, as the filmmakers and audiences alike have taken to social media to slam the decision as an “assault on women’s rights.”
Infuriating as it is, this is hardly the board’s first frustrating clampdown. The Cbfc has long been the bane of...

In Hindi, “Irada” translates to “intention.” But while writer/director Aparnaa Singh’s feature has a noble one, it’s too often blurred by execution that falls short on almost every level. The social relevance angle is apparent; in fact, the heart-wrenching illumination of Punjab’s chemically-contaminated water and illegal reverse boring practices, and their cancerous effects on the community, bears a vague but unmistakable resemblance to the discoveries Julia Roberts made as Erin Brockovich in the 2000 film. But around that theme swirls several overlapping stories and issues competing for attention.
One is that of Parabjeet Walia (Naseeruddin Shah)—whose daughter Riya (Rumana Molla) develops terminal cancer from swimming in the tainted water—and his potential involvement with the mysterious bombing of tycoon Paddy Sharma’s (Sharad Kelkar) pharmaceutical company, which has suspicious ties to the toxic material. The incident’s investigation is helmed by Arjun Mishra (Arshad Warsi), a...

The year is 2029, and the mutant formerly known as the Wolverine isn’t quite as invincible as he used to be. After being alive for almost 200 years, he’s finally starting to show his age. He’s haunted by something from his past (you’ll have to see the previous movies to find out what, or re-visit them to remember), and he hurts people in his dreams. He’s rotting from the inside out, he needs reading glasses, and his healing powers can’t keep up. He’s saved the world like eight times over, but he’s now a glorified Las Vegas Uber driver who cares more about his limo than he does his life. He may be the one guy on Earth who can’t drink himself to death, but that certainly hasn’t stopped him from trying. He’s pretty much a Johnny Cash song with adamantium claws.

In an exclusive conversation with Filmipop.com, Arshad Warsi, Sagarika Ghatge, Divya Dutta and debutant director Aparnaa Singh talked about their upcoming eco-thriller film Irada and their characters in the film and more. Tell us about your film and your characters in your film. Aparnaa: It's a film which has a stellar cast and a deep subject. It's had thriller and nuances of what's happening in Punjab and its premises. It's a great story and you'll enjoy it. Divya: Well my character is totally characterless in this movie. I am playing the negative role of Cm who wants Arshad's character to do his job and lots of mean stuff to do and it's something I haven't done before. So it's a different experience for me to play this character. Arshad: I am playing a cop and I enjoy playing them actually. It was a great fun to have somebody like you watch all the time,...
