Interesting new take at a show from Nick
legohead-8944214 March 2017
I took the time to review this show because I think it's better than most shows on Nick as of right now. They threw trash at us, we didn't like it, and now we got something okay. I think the plot is pretty good, it's about some adopted kids whose parents go missing. I think some of the camera effects they used were good, and it's an overall high-quality show. Would watch again.

Breath of Fresh Air
Man9920415 April 2017
This little series has a lot of good things going for it. First of all, it is NOT one of those annoying Disney Tween shows. The kids in the cast act, for the most part, like regular children. Their lives do not center around their impossibly perfect wardrobes or their career as a Pop Idol. All in all, they present a much more humane and more emotionally healthy image for their young viewers.

The basic plot is entertaining in itself. There is no need for cheesy specials effects or spontaneous dance numbers.

Adults who watch these types of programs with their children will not be bored to tears. There is enough content in the programs to keep someone over the age of 12 watching.

A new genre for Nickelodeon
maenletyler28 March 2017
A new Nick sitcom that isn't a comedy! It's a mystery show, about some kids' parents who went missing, as they try to solve were they went. For a modern Nick sitcom, its surprisingly good. It has good mystery, no random/fart jokes, and an over-all good plot. Good job Nick, hope you guys keep it up!

I love it!

This is a great show, that will capture a nice age span audience. There is no canned laughter as in some of their other shows. It's fun to try to find the hidden letter in each episode and its unique in that a new episode on every day to keep the interest of the kids It actually a Nick show that adults can enjoy with the kids.. The setting of Amsterdam is amazing. Great young actors and actresses. Keep it up Nick!

Never seen anything like this

Absolutely love this show. It's been a while since my children and I have enjoyed a Nickelodeon show together but this keep all of our attention. Love the performances from the actors and the story line is very exciting and keeps you watching. I really have to give props to Nick for taking a chance and creating a show like this because I haven't really been a fan of a lot of too much from them in the past. THANK YOU.

They seem to have a lot of big scarves
gracedarla24 September 2019
This show is okay. When my kids watch it I don't feel a strong need to leave the room like I do with most Nickelodeon shows. One thing about it really annoys me though - they wear hideous scarves. I can pick this show at a glance by the big things wound around the characters' necks. It's weird.

All the stars are for the actors
terrydgold31 August 2018
The kids are great. They are good actors. The writing is ridiculous. Bad writing throughout. They seem to think teens and older kids are illogical idiots. The directing is no better. Constant interruptions of the through line. It's like they are trying to make kids look dumb.

Excellent show
maddiemorgan27 March 2017
I love the show it is one of the best shows on nick right now and also one of my favorites. I love the mystery that is in the show . It is like what is happening in an episode is really happening to the actors and actresses that are in it. I would very highly recommend watching this show to any one child or adult. I would give it a 10 out of 10 If you have not seen it you should really check it out.

Bad writing, great concept!
cwade2210 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The concept of the show is great! And it's set in Amsterdam, about an old family with a lot of MYSTERY! Awesome! Sadly, the characters are written so dumb! Every episode it seems they set out to do something, then at least one character purposefully or accidentally does something to Ruin that easy plan! I know there wouldn't be a show if the mystery was solved fast, but the characters do really dumb things that contradict their typical intellect and behavior. Why can't the writers make Anika and Tess and the little girl smarter? Anika is the most annoying of the bunch. Sorry, but she really is. I really want to like this show, but the dumb writing makes it very difficult to forgive the obvious bad writing. Even Scooby Doo mystery incorporated characters and writing are better than on this show. Again, I want to like the show, but the writing needs to improve. And why are the parents so careless? It seems they don't care if anybody goes to prison. The parents need to discipline their children more, lol. Or at least teach them more. Do these children go to school?! Come on. Improve the writing. This show seems to cater to older children, not younger children, so I'm sure the writing can be better and the viewers can understand. I'm 31! Maybe my brain can predict things in this show, but still, the writing can be much better. I think that's the only flaw I see with the show. The character are just written to be very dumb and clumsy. In one episode, only the youngest siblings went to school, but then SKIPPED school to play tag! Why didn't the other siblings go to school?! Maybe I'm too specific, but this show has potential to be great, without the clumsy writing. Best way to describe the writing of the characters is like a person is looking for something, but when they're about to find it, and it's roght in front of them, AND THEY SEE IT, they choose to turn away and keep looking! That's how I describe the writing of the characters trying to solve the mystery! They always change course, even though they're on track, and they miss it.

Bad scripts and horrible acting
amontii14 November 2019
I had so wanted to like this series, but it is a no go. The scripts/writing are absolutely horrible. The personalities of the children are one dimensional and the overacting of their personalities is extremely annoying, especially the character of Anika. The overall disobedience of the kids with their constant lying to adults and their sneaking around, all in the guise of solving a mystery, is still so horrendously criminal but yet treated as cute and resourceful, that I would not let children in my care watch it as to appear to condone such activity. Again...bad acting, bad scripts.... such a shame as it had promise.

I'm a 35 yr old with no children and I love this show!!
uniquelybrooke18 May 2019
I stumbled across this show on Hulu when I was down and depressed, just wanted a "useless" show for noise but ended up getting hooked. Watched the entire first season in one night and can't get enough! Seriously the best nick show ever since "Are you afraid of the dark". I really thought that they would never get shoes right again but leave it to the Canadians to hit it out of the park again for nick. I recommend this for anyone not just people with kids. Great storyline that keeps you wanting more!! 10+ stars!!!

It's a great feel to past shows on Nickelodeon
mjv-4598422 March 2017
It's a great show I watch the first episode and second episode it was a great and fun episode a family who is working together to find there foster parents. The mystery is keeping me watching more. Plus it reminds me kinda like house of Anubis and the rest of mystery shows on Nickelodeon. Even though the acting was kinda off a little bit I think I could watch this show and try to give a chance I think everyone too.

Completely LAME
kompuwizz31 March 2017
This show teaches kids that they are completely helpless without adults. Even the 17 year old (Almost 18 acts like he is 10. Authority figures walk into home without knocking and show no concern for kids feelings. This frustrating show is tacitly designed to dis-empower the viewing audience (Children) and make them feel they need to be dependent on others to solve their problems. When I was a kid children's TV shows and movies were designed to foster independence, self-reliance, and responsibility. Hunter Street does just the opposite. I don't know why any kid would find this entertaining.

It was a great show
BoxwoodExpress17 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After the 2000s ended, we haven't been getting that much good live action shows from Nickelodeon. Of course, the 2000s had dumb shows like Just Jordan, but that was quickly scrapped. In the 2010s, the bad shows just never seem to leave most of the time. They're always in your face. The only good live action shows from the 2010s are Victorious, House of Anubis, Legendary Dudas, 100 Things to Do Before High School, Paradise Run, Ride, Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and All In With Cam Newton. Hunter Street came out last month, and it is just great. A trait common in Nickelodeon one-month series is that it always features a new girl at school who gets bullied by the popular girl and starts dating the popular girls boyfriend. That plot is SO Cliché. However, Hunter Street turns that cliché plot around and spits it out in an awesome way. Max is in a new foster home with Anika, Tess, Sal (my favorite character), and Daniel. However, their parents are kidnapped by a mysterious hooded figure named Saganash. Together, the kids must solve the mystery and get their parents back. The show did have the love square with Tim, Daniel, Simone, and Sophie, but that was very minor and so you won't get bored watching this show. It has awesome mysteries and great morals for kids. It also has awesome effects. This, Ride, Power Rangers Ninja Steel, Paradise Run, Post-Sequel Spongebob, The Loud House, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Bunsen is a Beast are the best Nickelodeon shows of 2017.

Not as bad as everyone says it is.
hollieolivia23 June 2023
Season 1 & 2 were absolutely amazing, the plot always had me thinking and there were always plot twists right around the corner. However, season 3 was a complete flop. Half of the main cast had left the show, and they had to bring in a bunch of new characters. Don't get me wrong, I love new characters every once and a while, but they don't fit in with the plot. As much as I love this show, it needed to end a lot earlier than it did. By season 4, Anika was the only original who was still in the show. If you ask me, it's ridiculous. The writers had to make up excuses as to why certain characters had left the show, but they were very unrealistic. Tess had moved to Africa?? When she left the show she was around 16-17, maybe even 18. Either way, definitely not old enough to move to a country on her own.

In conclusion, I love this show but the amount of character rotations was VERY annoying and just made the show confusing.

Original? There were many thriller shows in the 1990's
danieln-1552515 April 2020
Just like this one. Adventures of Sheryl Holmes was a big hit in the 1990's. There were many other mystery shows for children. That's not that original like some people think. The writing of this show is ok, althought progress is slow. Some episodes have no point and clearly writers ran out of ideas.

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
corysowers8513 January 2018
Look, I'm sorry, I haven't had time to write a review, but now that season 2 is just around the corner! I feel as though I should do it Now!!!!!!

This is possibly the best show that I have ever seen!!!!!

I have been watching Nick since iCarly! I am 20 now, and I am looking into this show!

Anyway, I was happy at the first season for the following reasons:

1. Adoption=I am adopted, so when Disney and ABC shows, such as Jessie and The Fosters, Stereotypes kids getting adopted,(things like they turn out to be criminals, gay, or are just bad kids who didn't deserve what they got and can never be like the rest of the world) I get infuriated, because none of what they broadcast is true, but this show has the right idea, they show what adopted kids are really like and they do not just use offensive stereotypes!

2. The Twist=Oh my Gosh! This is amazing! All throughout my childhood I realized all around me, Kids love twists! I personally use that quote from robot chicken "What a twist!" So when this show always has a twist in every episode, you are jumping with joy.

3. Mystery= This show will keep you guessing

4. Family= This Family is strong against all things! That is truth and something all people should know

5. Comedy= Comedy can only be for adults, or can only be just for kids! Disney has expressed this belief! I realize that this phrase is bull-crap, the pure essence of all comedy is that all audiences are laughing at the same thing! Comedy is not subjective!

So in Summary this show should win the kids choice awards!

Unwatchable
manixanoka16 November 2018
I saw the idea but it was implemented poorly. This show is 75% pop culture references, 10% dabbing, 5% Max and the rest Mystery which didn't even appeal to me at all. The Oldest one is retarded The younest is retarded The smart one is extremely dull The needy one doesn't intrigue me at all.

All in all its cringe to the core

A Great Comeback For Nickelodeon.
pefre-194023 June 2017
I've watched many Nickelodeon shows that come and go and although they are good they seem to lack that piece to make them great. It is this time that Nickelodeon needed a show to come back on track and this show did great in doing so.

The mystery, and fun adventures is quite cool. The show is not that boring either because the mystery and its ability to make you want to know ''What happened?''keeps you tuned on the show. Is a good show.

Premise is good, Execution horrible
libby-xyz18 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show is almost as bad as the Reboot of Reboot that got cancelled after 2 seasons. The premise is that a bad dude is after the family's inheritance of the fabled blue and red diamonds. The enemy named Saganash kidnapped the children's parents in hopes of getting the gems. The children are driven to find them and become embroiled in the intrigue. They come in contact, close contact with Saganash at least a couple of times in the first season where they could have overpowered their nemesis but fail to do so. The first time in a parking lot. If all four children had jumped on this black hooded and caped mystery person, who by the sound of his voice is in his 70s at least, they could have overpowered him and beat him in submission until the cops arrived. Max and Kate, two teenagers get another opportunity later in season 1 where Saganash tries to get the disc that helps decipher the map where the diamonds are hidden. Instead they run off. The writing is truly full of holes and is horrible.

Hunter Street for me is a show unlike others, because whenever it's on TV I just immediately want to watch it which is something I don't feel when most other television programs are on. The plot is very interesting and will keep you interested for as long as you watch it. A truly amazing show.
