I liked some of it, not all of it

Warning: Spoilers
"Mantra: Sounds into Silence" is a new English-language documentary movie and I will spare you the list of countries that are listed as producing here, but it shows that georgia Wyss' most recent work was truly a global project. it runs for sllightly under 1.5 hours and focuses on the concept of mantras. Maybe if you know a bit about spiritualism, India, yoga or mindfulness, then you have come acorss this concept already. You could maybe say that it is a special kind of music that is supposed to help you in finding inner peace (with yourself most of all) and calmness. I myself struggle a bit with this particular kind of music and to really appreciate it, but maybe it's just me because I also struggle when it comes to singing along from any perspective and maybe it is just more powerful to be ain a room with these people and not just see them on a screen. Still, it is a documentary that is worth seeing in my opinion. There are many aspects here easy to appreciate, even if you struggle with the core aspect like I did. One example is the idea of music that serves the idea to heal people that is referenced on one occasion in particular, but on several occasions in a basic manner. And I've experienced that myself a few times how it can really help and turn you into a happier person. Another approach I liked was the idea of people telling us how they got into mantras. Not necessarily what it did for them, but where they were in their lives that they were looking for satisfaction and how they eventually ended up finding it, of course with the references to stress, the financial world and so on. Yes there are moments when people simply said generically that mantras saved their lives and these did not do too much for me, but in this kind of documentary you always find these I guess and honestly the quantity is not on a level where it is really tolerable. The positive is far more frequent than the negative without a doubt. It's easy to take something with you from this movie when you leave the theater afterward and it is something I cannot say about every documentary because for me personally, many of them had a too much spiritual note and it's difficult for me with this subject as I struggle to make connections with talking stones and so. But this one here does not require you to be in the subject very deeply. It is also for people who have no connection with the genercal concept of mindfulness or just not too much connection there, the description that fits me. I also found several of the performers pretty interesting as they really come from all kinds of backgrounds and what they had to say about the impact they are making on all kinds of people in need of help was as interesting as almost everything else about these 85 minutes. It's probably not a film that will be shown in too many theaters, but if you get the chance to check it out, then you should not miss out in my opinion. It really is worth seeing. Go for it.

Stunning and powerful

Singing is as natural to human beings to breathing and the film shows the magic of this. No matter if you are not a good singer, don't think about what others expect you to be...just let go and sing.

The way that different groups of individuals from very different backgrounds melt together in a wonderful practice for singing their way to reach health, calm, happiness... through the art of chanting., simply amazing.

This movie is for the already initiated and for everybody else: the ones feeling curious about what mantra and chanting truly is, in a totally unpretentious way of showing it. Too good and very interesting! Highly recommended!

A Beautiful Must See!

In a world so full of distractions and noise, this film is a beautiful refuge for the mind, soul and the heart.

When most people think of yoga they think of twisting and stretching, and as a Vinyasa Yoga teacher, I help new students understand that yoga is much much more than that.

This film depicts the Bhakti branch of the 8 limbs of yoga in such a visually captivating way that it "reminds" us all how much value devotional sound can add to our lives. When the movie was over the entire auditorium was standing on their feet clapping with joy.

It is a must see indeed!
