Check out The Allnighter
mettlesetdesigner24 October 2023
The Allnighter is a great indie comedy drama with strong leading characters and a great story about growing into adulthood. The two leads Terence (played by Owen Beckman) and Belle (played by Gretchen Lodge) are very likable even though they have their flaws! I was surprised to see so many well known actors in this indie movie. Keep an eye out for Justine Bateman, David Koechner, Tom Lister Jr, James Russo and Naomi Grossman just to name a few. I highly recommend giving this movie and watch as I truly enjoyed it and give it two thumbs up! Looking forward to seeing what Aimee Graham does next!!

Indie gold blending comedy and drama
joecurry-6148119 November 2023
Yo, peep this: The Allnighter ain't your regular flick-it's indie gold blending comedy and drama, serving up real characters hustling through that adulting game. Terence, played by Owen Beckman, and Belle, played by Gretchen Lodge, bring that realness, flaws and all, but they still shine bright and likable, you feel me?

And check this lineup: this indie joint pulls in big names! Justine Bateman, David Koechner, Tom Lister Jr, James Russo, Naomi Grossman-mad surprises! It's a whole squad of talent, for real.

I'm throwing my cosign on this one-The Allnighter's a gem! I had a blast and two thumbs way up, yo. Aimee Graham's got my attention now-can't wait to see what she's dropping next!

What a great little movie!!
SGarrett4961220 February 2024
I really enjoyed this quiet little movie. It is an intelligently written and directed love story about two imperfect opposites who find one another. The lead actor, Owen Beckman, is going to be a huge star. He conveys sincerity and warmth throughout, and reminded me at times of a young Billy Crudup. His counterpart is the equally talented Gretchen Lodge. It's so refreshing to see a movie like this. Writer-Director Aimee Graham understands the nuances of human relationships. There are 1-2 continuity issues in the first 5 minutes but let it go and enjoy what this movie offers. Kudos to the cinematographer and composer as well. And David Koechner and Justine Bateman round out the cast! It's well worth the watch.

Road trip!
mrdigital134 January 2024
Cosmic. Intelligent. Thoughtful. Heartbreaking. Funny. Beautiful... The Allnighter is a strong independent film directed by Aimee Graham, who is the real driver on the quirky road trip to self discovery. There are moments that make you laugh as well as cry, and the best part is, it's never about the destination. It's about the journey, characters, and drive to tell a compelling story about two unlikely people who find one another (in the worst way possible).

If you enjoy lighthearted, smart filmmaking, The Allnighter is definitely worth checking out. I enjoyed every second of it and recommend it highly.

Very clever emotionally engaging drama

Warning: Spoilers
The Allnighter is an engaging drama written and directed by Aimee Graham making her feature debut. We follow the story of Terrance played by Owen Beckman.

Within minutes of the film beginning, we get the impression Terrance isn't living his best life.

When he's not dodging threats from loan sharks who are after his gambling addict mother and having awkward moments as he drives for Uber transporting people he can't stand, Terrance is obsessively completing his PHD in astro physic's which he has been working on for the last seven years.

When Terrance's car is stolen with his life's work inside the trunk he suffers an existential crisis which propels himself on somewhat of a spiritual odyssey to get it back in order to seize the future he wants as opposed to the suffocating present he's trapped in.

It's hard to find any real critical faults in this one.

The cinematography is beautiful and Owen Beckman who plays the films protagonist Terrance commands the screen holding his own against more experienced and established Hollywood actors like David Koesche (Anchor Man) and Tom Lister Junior (Good Friday).

Aimee wrote the characters very well and clearly took her time choosing the right actors because you can't help but feel empathy for every single one of them even when they say and do some pretty questionable things.

She effortlessly avoids the kind of pitfalls most directors fall consciously avoids cliche scenarios and neatly tied up endings in favor of something both heartbreaking heart wrenching optimistic and relatable.

As Alfred Hitchcock put it "What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out"

There were no dull bits in the Allnighter.

Beautifully Offbeat
echapman75 November 2023
If you like being kept off balance and in a pleasant state of confusion with offbeat characters and unpredictable, almost attention-deficit-disorder story development, this is the movie for you. It has a David O Russell quality. The two leads are enigmatic but compelling. You may not like them at first, but they grow on you as they grow on each other. Populated with strong character actors like James Russo, David Koechner, Sylvia Kelegian (who almost steals the movie as a gambling addict mom) and Tom Lister Jr (whose character I didn't fully understand) this is a movie that defies easy categorization as indie films often do - which makes the best of them so refreshing. It ends on a beautiful grace note that allows it to continue on in the imagination.

Wonderful, Quirky, and Compicated
julianvhampton6 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The allnighter was an incredibly interesting film. It combines a drama with romance, some comedic moments, and elements of science. The story features Owen Beckman as Terrance, who plays an understated but complex role of a Uber driving grad student. In the co-star role, Gretchen Lodge plays Belle, a woman with secrets who lives life by the seat of her pants. Following his journey through chasing down his stolen items, fixing both of their family challenges, and trying to make it in school, the film accomplishes many dramatic aspects and ties them together well. Aimee Graham did a wonderful job as did the rest of the cast. Nicely done.
