[discussing the huge blue diamond that Josephine Hunter's ghost led the Hunter siblings to]
Max Hunter : So Josephine's one true love was a rock?
Tess Hunter : That's kind of sad when you think of it.
Anika Hunter : Poor Josephine.
Daniel Hunter : How much do you think a diamond like that is worth?
Max Hunter : Ten milliion, give or take.
Tess Hunter : Since when are you a diamond expert?
Max Hunter : I'm not. I'm just saying it's probably worth a lot.
Sal Hunter : According to Diamondpedia, the famous Hope Diamond, which is just about as big and blue, was insured for 250 million U.S. dollars.
-
Max Hunter : Why are we doing this?
Daniel Hunter : Duh! So no one steals this jillion-dollar diamond.
Max Hunter : We should be doing the exact opposite.
Daniel Hunter : So you're saying we want somebody to steal the diamond?
Max Hunter : Not steal it - try to steal it. Think about it. Saganash kidnapped Erik and Kate because he wants the diamond.
Tess Hunter : And if he knows it's here, he's sure to try to steal it. All we have to do is catch him then we get Kate and Erik back.
-
[Tess learns the Hunter Museum's new exhibit is getting national publicity]
Tess Hunter : We're going to have a few more people than we expected.
Max Hunter : [Max holds out an elbow for Tess to link arms] Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls - it's show time!
-
[Sal is watching the museum's surveillance cameras]
Max Hunter : How's it going?
Sal Hunter : Great! I've got coverage for every angle.
Max Hunter : Perfect. If Saganash beats the trap, at least we'll have it on video.
Sal Hunter : What do you mean, "Beats the trap"?
Max Hunter : It's not going to happen... just a backup. A little extra insurance. Nothing can go wrong.
[Watching the video screens, Sal suddenly sits upright in his chair]
Sal Hunter : Something just went wrong.
-
Max Hunter : Miss Clutterbeak, Julius, Janine - this is a surprise.
Headmistress Clutterbeek : Yes, well, I heard about the exhibit and decided to take some of my favorite students on a special field trip.
Max Hunter : On a weekend. Lucky you.
Headmistress Clutterbeek : Yes. Precious gems are one of my many areas of expertise.
Max Hunter : [muttering under his breath] Right, along with child torture.
-
[Max refuses to allow Miss Clutterbeek to cut to the front of the queue]
Headmistress Clutterbeek : It would be unfortunate if my experience here could have a negative effect on your grade.
Max Hunter : I didn't know grades went lower than "F".
Headmistress Clutterbeek : That's true, your grade can't get any lower... but what about your brother Sal's?
-
[Max and Tess refuse to let Miss Clutterbeek cross the ropes to examine the diamond closely]
Max Hunter : Please, it's museum policy.
Tess Hunter : Step back.
Headmistress Clutterbeek : I have never been treated so shabbily. Where are your parents? I would like to speak to them this instant!
Tess Hunter : We'll put you in touch with you... during regular business hours.
-
Tess Hunter : This was a bad idea.
Max Hunter : Well, I mean, it depends what you mean by "bad". I mean, sure, a riot did break out and the law is breathing down or necks. The Clutterbeek problem isn't going away.
Tess Hunter : That's kind of what I meant by "bad".
