Mildly catchy at best

Warning: Spoilers
As the title already gives away, these five minutes we got here are the music video for the song "Ain't Your Mama" by recording artist Jennifer Lopez. This was released back in 2016 and the song was a big commercial success in Europe particularly, America not so much. I personally have been following J-Lo's singing career from the very start with her huge breakthrough hit "If You Had My Love" around 20 years ago almost now I think and I must say she is not the singer with the greatest vocal range, but she has a tendency to come up with really catchy numbers here and there and this song is one of them as well, at least at times. Of course, it fits in nicely as well with the current tendency of advocating women's rights and the #metoo debate etc., so it is kinda telling that it did not make as much of an impact really there with how the population seems to be voting. But lets not get too political this time or mention what Hillary had to say about the song. As for Lopez, in my opinion, maybe also subjectively biased because I am not as big on rap music as on pop music, I think that hip hop just doesn't suit J-Lo that well, even if she thinks about this otherwise obviously. And all this is true about this very song too. The message is not too considerable honestly and it's maybe best to enjoy this as pointless bubblegum pop which certainly comes short in how it is telling men a certain messages the way it wants to be. The lyrics just aren't defining by any means and everything else is not good enough either for me to recommend checking this one out. Skip it unless you really love Lopez. Instead you could listen to the recent very successful Maroon 5 song where J-Lo has a little cameo too and in the broadest sense deals with a similar subject.

Doesn't quite work for me

The song doesn't quite work for me. The song's message is a bit like a poor ripoff of Beyonce's empowered image. As for the video, I don't see Jennifer Lopez as a maid. The retro feel and her glamorous look don't match.
