Into the Backstory

This is an interesting episode that gets into the origins of Joe Turner's beginnings with the CIA. I enjoyed the changing dynamic between him & Kathy as well as the investigation parts with the CIA team. Shepherd is a character that begins to take shape and be developed well.

Trapped in History

After being pepper sprayed by Kathy. Joe needs to earn her trust but also needs to save her life.

Again the only person looking out form him is his uncle Bob.

However he is under suspicion. There is a tense scene in a diner between Bob Partridge and Reuel Abbott. They talk to each other nicely, yet have mutual distrust as they receive text messages or ignore mobile phone calls.

Sharla suddenly becomes a weak link through her burner phone as Bob gets a message through to her. That was another tension filled bit.

The other interesting part were flashback scenes of Joe at university with his friends and Uncle Bob recruiting him.

One of the friend's Caleb is now an online activist and he tells the truth that the victims of the office shooting were CIA operators. This could help Joe more than hinder him.

At this point Kathy needs to be reluctantly onside with Joe and we see the beginnings of this. Caleb's intervention could also be useful.
