Highly recommended movie. Rare in that it examines the psychology of dissidents in a Soviet Gulag camp. It is up close and personal and we really get to know the dissidents over the course of the movie. As a Russian I loved that this movie had real Russian actors playing the roles, it made the movie very real. Yes it is a very low budget movie but the good part of that was the camera could frame the faces tightly and we got to know the dissidents at close range and get into their minds.

Authentic Actors, born and raised in Russia.

Two of the lead actors, Andrey and the one who plays Larissa, both were born and grew up in Russia and have authentic Russian accents, these are real Russians speaking English in the film and I love it. I know the English spoken in the movie by these Russian actors is difficult to understand at times, but it is worth it for the authentic feel it gives the movie. It is low budget like some of the other Gulag movies, but well worth it if you want to see an independent film outside the mainstream.
