"Weit." tells the story of two young Germans who start a journey around the world, avoiding planes and instead traveling only hitchhiking, by train or foot. They start in Europe and make their way all through Asia to Central America and back to Europe again.
On their way they experience countless beautiful and interesting places and interact with the people who inhabit them. Nowadays, more and more people are on their way and journeying and so you might think that this movie is not anything special. Indeed there are multiple people who could tell stories that at least partly resemble this one but the consequence with which the two followed their ideals and the optimism and hope that is woven into their story make this film special. Once again you see how much beauty there is in this world and why it is worth to give every human being a chance to express himself.
All in all this is an adorable film. You might or might not like the two protagonists but you should acknowledge that they try to show you a world despite all wars and problems we are facing.
