Dude, this is dark web!
Barddot2 November 2023
This movie is a very weird one to review. Its quality throughout its duration ranges from awful to stupid fun. It is shot and lit relatively well, however, it seems that for as much effort they put into the camera and lighting work, a fraction of it was put into the script, plot, and finding competent actors.

The main character is Tubi's attempt to have a relatable millennial protagonist, but my friends and I all ended up hating his, true crime podcaster persona. Also, the movie tries to make him queer-coded with his family shunning him for a reason we are not privy to, however, it is very clear that the writers are insinuating that he is gay. But in the end, they pulled their punches having him and the final girl become a couple. This might've been Tubi stepping in saying they didn't want a queer main character.

Tubi clearly spent more money on this original than they do on most other ones (see "Shark side of the moon") however their understanding of the dark web is just laughably bad. You could watch 5 SomeOrdinayGamers videos and have a better understanding of it than the writers do.

By the way, the girl killer is on a dark website called "readit" in one scene which I thought was stupidly funny.

This is another one of those "internet bad" movies where movie studios will use the boogeyman of the deep web in order to get unsuspecting people to view the movie.

While not as blatantly exploitative as movies like Unfriended: Dark Web and Megan is Missing, a lot of this movie's "horror" relies on people not having a basic understanding of how the deep web works.

Overall, a fun, stupid movie that you shouldn't show to your cinema studies friends, but a decent one to show to your bad movie friends.

More or less predictable but there's effort
roadbytheriver14 October 2023
There seems to be an effort lately to make these kinds of horror movies a little better again. This is good news because the audience deserves better. Creating creative scenes in low-budget productions can't be easy, and The Deep Web Murdershow dares to try. Is it enough? Of course not. The production, which resembles the horror movies you have watched before, starts very quickly. It slows down after a while, but then the tension increases rapidly. There could have been better acting and better scenes with wild content, but for the genre, it can be watched without getting bored. The ending is more or less predictable and some parts are minus points, but it can be considered a good choice among similar ones.

Too Many Cosmos

Warning: Spoilers
Three young ladies are out having a good time in Seattle. Clare (Jamila Hall) and Kate (Kimi Alexander) decide to call it a night while Amanda (Lauren Jackson) wants to meet Griffith, a man she does not know. Amanda is abducted and later killed in "The Murdershow" a dark web broadcast. Not sure why they use "Deep Web" in the title. Her brother Ethan Newton (Aiden Howard) has a bodcast on the east coast where he goes after cops. He shows up for the funeral and with the help of Kate and a hacker (Brendan Fletcher ) he decides to go after the group.

The masks worn by the people in the group look similar to the one in "Saw." The name of the policeman was "Sawchuck." wink wink nudge nudge. Aiden Howard is a horrible actor who should never of had the lead. His remorse for his sister was a joke. Kimi Alexander saved the film.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Annoying watch
ryleilove16 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was an annoying watch because of all the dumb decisions the characters made. You end up caring less about their fate, hoping they are just killed off anyway.

First we start with the sister. Yea I'm gonna go meet this guy I met online whom I don't know nor ever saw in an isolated place, tipsy, in the dark super late. Next we have dummy number 2, Kate. No Ethan, I don't want you to come to work with me this late even though I know these dangerous killers are following us. I'm ok all by myself. Last we have dummy number 3, Ethan. Yea, eff the police. I'm gonna go to the multiple killers location all by my lonesome because I'm not a punie little punk, I can take em on.

I hate when movies are annoying due to stupidity. At least make me care about their lives because they care about their lives *takes a long deep eye roll*.

Lead character is a horrible actor though I give credit for the determination because it's not an easy task. It has to come natural and for this young man, it does not. The lead actress isn't award winning but she's definitely better than her co-star.

Nonetheless, I finished it, not a bad watch but definitely not worth a second watch. 4 for realistic storyline (maybe not necessarily the actions but the plot itself is definitely what happens to people in real life) and effort.

Well...
adie_stone2 October 2023
Not even so bad it's good, it's just bad.

Everything is over exaggerated, I have no idea what they were going for. In parts it's like they were trying to be serious, in others it was as if they said screw it, let's make the most hammed up ridiculous film we can make.

Absolutely nothing sticks and everything stinks.

All but one of the actors were atrocious, seriously, only one of them could actually act.

The dialogue is hilariously bad, not a single conversation in the film would happen in real life.

It's a shame because the premise was decent, by the right people it could have been great, alas it was far from it.

Avoid like the plague.

I wasn't expecting much and was still let down..
darcy-796815 May 2024
I wasn't expecting a super movie, but I was really frustrated by this effort.

The lead actor ruined the movie for me immediately. How he got the lead role I have no idea. Related to the director? Whatever the reason, his brutal performance took a mediocre move and flushed it. He just can't do it. The female lead at least was better to watch. She couldn't save the movie, but she tried.

The other actors were also painful to watch, and I really felt like I was watching a high school film project. For example, the actors in the masks were awful. When you wear a mask the whole movie and have no dialogue, you have to create terror by the menace of your body language and movement. These actors moved like film student actors crossed with Vanna White. When you can't act with no lines and a mask on, it's hard to recover.

Overall, the story could have been interesting had it been told effectively and acted well. Also, so much must have been left on the cutting room floor that it felt over edited, choppy and unfinished. A movie that's 81 minutes with credits can't create character development and a proper story.

It's a student film that no one was warned about.

A trio of well designed villains
trevortrombley-7375717 July 2023
Low budget Indy's are tricky. Because you are limited by your budget, you need to cut corners. You can't hire A list actors, nor can you purchase the best locations, makeup artists, etc.

These limitations hold you back but you try to over deliver in the places you can.

The late director Dan Zachary didn't deliver the most ground breaking script, there's a second act sag which happens after Ethan learns of his sisters death which slows the movie down, but once the detective work and mystery about what or who the murdershow is begins things start to pick up the pace which leads to a well executed finale.

Dans trio of creepy clown like villains are well thought out and designed. You can even find their masks at your local costume shop if you are lucky.

It is this creativity on display which makes the film fun and unique.

Brendan Fletcher plays shadowmonkey and he steals the show with his over the top antics. And what can I say about Kimi Alexander. She starts off as a victim and quickly turns into a kick ass heroine in the same league as Laurie Strode, or Nancy from A nightmare on elm street. Aiden Howard might be the weakest link in the cast, shining in moments and sometimes not as convincing as one would like.

If you like a quick horror flick on a dark night and can get through that second act sag this movie will deliver for you.

Could be better but could definitely be worse.
plxywxy6 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Considering its a low budget the movie wasn't half as bad as people give it credit for. It was a pretty good movie to kill off some time and it wasn't too long and pretty simple at to the point. Could it have a better lead actor yes but overall it wasn't that bad and actually had a plot. Another annoying thing was the ending which didn't make much sense. They find the people behind the murder show and kill all but the girl who gets away then one year later decides to buy the guy? Also we don't see anything else after this after this which may indicate another season or maybe this film just wanted to be extra.
