A proposed third season was canceled after the death of Rutger Hauer.
Director Vadim Jean, who was a huge fan of Blade Runner (1982) had always wanted to work with cult Dutch actor Rutger Hauer and when asked by the commissioning TV network who he would would like to cast in the series he jokingly mentioned Hauer, not expecting anything to come of it. As luck would have it, Hauers agent turned out to be somebody who had helped Jean with casting in his first feature film 25 years previously and remembered him. The agent said they would contact Hauer, who much to everyone's surprise, accepted on the proviso that he write his own dialogue (which he was well known for). With the scripts nearing completion, a character was hastily rewritten for the then 73 year old Hauer to play. Several years later Vadim Jean said working with Hauer was a career highlight and that he even got Hauer to sign the box of his DVD copy of Blade Runner.
