Charithra Chandran is not in Season 3 of “Bridgerton,” the British star has confirmed, but she has a range of other projects coming up.
Chandran, who is of Indian heritage, will produce a reality TV series based on ancient Sanskrit-language text the “Kama Sutra.” While the text was primarily designed as an art of living guide, many of the film and TV interpretations of it have focused on its sexual aspects.
“I’m working on a reality TV show, which is inspired by the ‘Kama Sutra,’ [for] which I would be just behind the scenes. Freevee isn’t going away, Amazon says.
With Amazon’s Prime Video launch of ads by default last month, rumors and speculation have heated up that the tech giant would no longer have a strategic need for Freevee — its free, ad-supported streaming service that is separate from Prime Video. A Feb. 21 report by Adweek, citing anonymous sources, said that Amazon will “sunset” Freevee, likely in the second quarter and possibly before the NewFronts in late April.
Asked for comment, Amazon said the Adweek report is inaccurate.
“There are no changes to Freevee,” the rep said in an email to Variety. “Amazon Freevee remains an important streaming offering providing both Prime and non-Prime customers thousands of hit movies, shows, and originals, all for free.”

When "Bridgerton" returns for its second season on March 25, it will do so with a fabulous set of new characters joining the ton. Front and center are the Sharma sisters, Kate and Edwina. Though more of the attention may be on fiery, brilliant Kate, her sister Edwina is just as fascinating a character, and one you'll definitely love if you don't already adore her from the books.
Is Edwina Sharma in the Bridgerton Books?
Yes, Edwina Sheffield (renamed to Edwina Sharma for the Netflix adaptation) is first introduced in "The Viscount Who Loved Me," the second in the Bridgerton book series by Julia Quinn. Edwina is the younger half-sister of Kate, the romantic lead of the book. They share a father, who died before their story begins, and Edwina's mother, Mary, is Kate's not-at-all-wicked stepmother.

Per the Amazon-owned ad-supported platform, “Judy Justice” has grown to be IMDb TV’s top original program in both “first streams and hours watched.” New episodes of Season 1 will continue to rollout every weekday through April 15 on-demand and on the “Judy Justice” live linear channel.

The rumor that Amazon is rebranding its free streaming service IMDBtv has been making the rounds for the past six months but the move was given its first public airing with Amazon Studios chief Jen Salke revealing that the service would be renamed “soon.”
The service, which airs series including Alex Rider, Leverage: Redemption and Judy Justice, was originally launched in 2019 as IMDb Freedive before being rebranded as IMDb TV a few months later.
It’s now set for a third name as it was thought, with its six syllables, to be too cumbersome for customers to pronounce. Deadline understands that it’s in the final stages of choosing a name and is down to two possibilities.
Salke revealed the news during a keynote session at the virtual Realscreen, where she was talking up the company’s non-scripted ambitions.

Judy Sheindlin, after ending her 25-year run as daytime TV’s favorite judge, is taking her gavel — and other elements of “Judge Judy” — into the streaming wars.
Sheindlin’s new IMDb TV original series, officially called “Judy Justice,” is set to premiere Nov. 1 exclusively on the Amazon-owned free streaming service. New episodes of “Judy Justice,” which follows the same arbitration-based format as her previous gig, will be available each weekday.
The show sets up an interesting test for IMDb TV to see whether it can attract and retain a loyal daily audience, and it’s banking on Sheindlin’s famous no-bs personality to draw a crowd. The first season is set to run for 120 episodes.
For “Judy Justice,” Sheindlin is teaming with her longtime executive producer and director Randy Douthit and co-executive producer Amy Freisleben, both of whom worked on her popular syndicated program.

The production shutdown prompted by the coronavirus pandemic last spring would have been reason enough to sound the alarm in Romania. But bigger trouble is brewing over the country’s rebate scheme, which has been imperiled by a bureaucratic logjam currently dragging into its second year.
After a bureaucratic reshuffle following a change in government in 2019, the cashback program has ground to a halt. According to the Romanian Alliance of Film Producers, the government owes €35 million ($42.4 million) to international productions that have lensed in the country since the rebate launched in 2018.
Of the two dozen foreign projects to shoot during that period, the only one to cash in on the rebate was Sony Pictures Television’s series “Alex Rider,” according to Iuliana Tarnovetchi, of Alien Film, which serviced the shoot.
“The fact that we don’t have a [functioning] cash rebate is not putting us in any [competitive] situation,” she says. “There...

The case may not be closed on For Life.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Nicholas Pinnock-led drama could return for a third season on IMDb TV, the Amazon-backed streaming service.
At this stage, the streaming service has committed to air the first two seasons, but additional seasons could come to pass.
It will all come down to how For Life performs with its already-aired two seasons.
THR states that the cast recently extended their options with both Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature Studios, meaning that the cast will still be available should a formal pickup come before the options lapse.
This is a great vote of confidence in the drama that was canceled by ABC earlier this year.
For Life Season 2 averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.35 rating in the demo. The series is thought to be a solid performer in delayed viewing.

This is a great vote of confidence in the drama that was canceled by ABC earlier this year.
For Life Season 2 averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.35 rating in the demo. The series is thought to be a solid performer in delayed viewing.

“For Life” could get a second life on Amazon’s IMDb TV. The free streaming service is set to add both seasons of the former ABC drama, with eyes on a potential third season should the show perform well, an individual with knowledge of the discussions told TheWrap.
The cast for the drama recently extended their options should a third season go forward. “For Life” is a co-production between ABC Signature and Sony Pictures Television.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson was an executive producer.

TV academy voters are faced with a daunting task when they fill out their 2021 Emmy Awards nominations ballot in that they have to consider 133 shows for Best Drama Series. On the bright side, the amount of entrants is down by 66 from last year, and members no longer have to winnow their choices down to just 10 favorites. As with the last several years, they are being told to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Last year’s champ, “Succession,” will not return to defend its title, as no new episodes of the HBO series have aired since its second season finale in October 2019. Of its seven rivals last year, four — “Better Call Saul,” “Killing Eve,” “Ozark,” and “Stranger Things” — also did not return in time to meet the eligibility window of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. The remaining three — “The Crown,...

Twin music duo Tegan and Sara’s best-selling memoir “High School” will be adapted as an original series for Amazon’s IMDb TV free, ad-supported streaming service.
The show, announced as part of Amazon’s first-ever NewFronts presentation Monday, will be executive produced by identical twins Tegan and Sara and writer-director-actor Clea DuVall.
“High School” is a coming-of-age scripted series described as “a transcendent story of first loves and first songs.” The series, to stream exclusively on IMDb TV, is produced by Amazon Studios and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment.
News of the Tegan and Sara project for IMDb TV comes after IMDb TV also announced orders for a half-hour crime drama from Dick Wolf, docuseries “Luke Bryan: My Dirt Road Diary” and a home-design series with interior designer Jeff Lewis; and five originals in development, including coming-of-age comedy “Primo” from “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur and author Shea Serrano.

IMDb TV, Amazon’s free-streaming video service, has ratcheted up its spending on original content — and more broadly, the e-commerce giant is trying to make the case to Madison Avenue that it has amassed a huge audience for ad-supported video content.
At Amazon’s first NewFronts presentation for advertisers Monday, IMDb TV announced unscripted series with country star Luke Bryan and famed interior designer Jeff Lewis (“Flipping Out”). In addition, IMDb TV has ordered “On Call,” a new half-hour drama from prolific producer Dick Wolf and Wolf Entertainment, Universal Television and Attn:, following a pair of police officers on patrol in Long Beach, Calif., with each episode tracking the duo as they respond to a new radio call, arriving on the scene to resolve an incident.

Amazon’s IMDb TV free, ad-supported streaming service is bulking up its originals lineup — announcing five new series in development, including a comedy from “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur and author Shea Serrano.
The projects are part of Amazon’s first-ever NewFronts presentation to advertisers on Monday.
“Primo,” from Serrano and Schur, is billed as a coming-of-age story about a Mexican-American teenager balancing cultural norms, college aspirations, societal expectations and the hectic home life of being raised by his single mom and five uncles.
The series is written and executive produced by Serrano, who based the comedy on his upbringing. Schur, who co-created “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Parks and Recreation” after serving as a writer and producer on “The Office,” also serves as executive producer alongside David Miner. “Primo” is a Fremulon and 3 Arts production in association with Universal TV, a division of Universal Studio Group.
