The Passage (3 out of 5 stars).
The first episode is a decent start to the series. Based on the first book of a trilogy which I did not read. Watching this series is coming from a new perspective. The plot is okay so far. A group of people came across a vampire like being in a cave. Then flashes forward, a secret government organization are experimenting on a deadly virus from the vampire being that can help cure all diseases. And they are seeking children that would be perfect test subjects.
The cast is decent with their performances. Mark-Paul Gosselaar was okay playing one of the government agents that tries to help one of the children's he captured Amy (Saniyya Sidney). Feels like the tone of the episode was all over the place. With the government doing secret experiments. Brad (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Amy being on the run from the government.
The characters are written as one dimensional personality. So far it is difficult to even care for anyone in the show. The script is lacking substance with the characters, a bit of a better story, and the performances are decent.
Overall, it is a fair start of a series. A few set ups to were the story will be heading towards. The characters are just forgettable.
