German Police Call: Frankfurt an der Oder (2017)
ZeddaZogenau29 January 2024
This very successful episode of the German crime film series POLIZEIRUF 110 is about a child abduction in the land in between (you can't actually call it a border area anymore) between Poland and Germany. After a quarter of an hour the kidnapped baby is back, but then things really start...

Very touching case! What remains in memory are the close-ups of the kidnapped baby, which appears to be transported haphazardly around the area, and the aerial shots of a large traffic circle somewhere between Frankfurt an der Oder and Gorzow Wielkopolski (formerly: Landsberg an der Warthe). Both recordings symbolize the feelings of being lost and not knowing which path to take.

The actors of the Polish couple Anna and Bartosz are particularly outstanding. Agnieszka GROCHOWSKA, born in Warsaw in 1979, plays an outwardly calm and controlled woman, whose torn emotional life becomes clear in every scene. She was already honored as a SHOOTING STAR at the Berlinale 2007 and was already part of the international cast of the bestseller film adaptation "Kind 44" (2015) based on the novel by Tom Rob Smith. Piotr STRAMOWSKI (also born in Warsaw in 1987) is already quite a star in Poland thanks to the action-packed films by director Patryk VEGA. Here he plays a hunky truck driver with thick muscles and lush chest hair, but inside he is rather helpless and very vulnerable.

A big movie theater!
