The upcoming Lucasfilm theatrical release “The Mandalorian & Grogu” is one of 15 films to secure an estimated $61 million in 2024 production tax incentives through California’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program.
The California Film Commission touted Disney’s “Mandalorian & Grogu” as the biggest-budget movie to ever qualify for state’s tax program, which distributes $330 million annually in state tax credits to TV and film productions. The 15 films in total — a mix of independent and major studio productions — are projected to inject nearly $408 million in production spending into the state’s economy. “Mandalorian” alone is expected to generate $166 million in spending in the state. The Cfc estimates the production activity across the 15 films will generate jobs for an estimated 2,252 crew members, 598 cast members and 16,800 background performers poised to work across a combined 579 filming days.
Other titles securing incentive commitments include Amazon MGM Studios’ “The Accountant 2” starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal; Chris Pratt-starrer “Mercy,...

Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant brought Ben Affleck in a different kind of action role. The film ended its run with a worldwide total of $155 million and a sequel was announced, but struggled to gain traction. The Accountant starred Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff, a mathematical savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town Cpa office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. The film sported an impressive cast that included Jon Bernthal, John Lithgow, J.K. Simmons, Anna Kendrick and Jeffrey Tambor.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman has confirmed that The Accountant 2 is now a go with Amazon producing the film. Gavin O’Connor will return to direct with Ben Affleck reprising his role. Back in 2021, O’Connor appeared on the CinemaBlend podcast where he revealed that he had just closed the deal for the sequel.

One of the most under appreciated movies that has come out in the last five years is Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant. This is one movie that should’ve had a much larger audience, but sadly, not too many people saw it. That’s why it didn’t make nearly as much money as it should have, which is unfortunate. Typically speaking, that means it shouldn’t be getting a sequel. I personally thought that was disappointing, but at least we got the movie. Does The Accountant even need a sequel? After the way the first one ended, I would say not exactly, since the

Will we ever see The Accountant 2: Crunch Those Numbers? The Ben Affleck movie was a surprise hit, and back in 2017, word surfaced that Warner Bros. was developing a sequel. But we haven’t heard much about it since then. So what’s up? According to The Accountant himself, Ben Affleck, there’s definitely been talk about a follow-up, […]
