By all accounts, NBC Chicago’s A Very Chicago New Year broadcast was a bizarre watch, thanks in no small part to Billy Corgan. Not only did he make the contrarian choice of singing “Summertime” in the middle of winter, but he also performed a whimsical new song inspired by Windy City children’s TV staple Wizzo the Wizard.
While appearing on the broadcast live from his tea house Madame Zuzu’s, the tuxedoed Smashing Pumpkins frontman debuted “Wizzo” while accompanied by the costumed son of the late Marshall Brodien, who plays the current iteration of Bozo the Clown’s sidekick.
“It’s up to you to believe in magic,” Corgan sings on the track. Watch the performance and the full broadcast below.
Marshall Brodien appeared as an early iteration of Wizzo the Wizard in the WGN-tv children’s show Bozo’s Circus, developing the character alongside its evolution into The Bozo Show.

Daniel Radcliffe and his Harry Potter cast mates were accustomed to pulling pranks on each other behind the scenes. But there was one prank Radcliffe felt he went a little overboard with.
Daniel Radcliffe once revealed what his favorite prank was Daniel Radcliffe | Francois G. Durand/Getty Images
Pranks were common on the Harry Potter set, and Radcliffe was both the victim and perpetrator of several behind-the-scenes shenanigans. But there was one prank Radcliffe felt may have trumped all.
“There’s – in the 3rd film – there’s a shot in the great hall of all the kids sleeping in the great hall, and the camera starts very very wide, and comes in so that it’s an inch from my face, a very long developing set, yeah, and Alan Rickman decided he would plant one of those fart machines in my, uh, sleeping bag, and they waited until like -the...

Kenya Barris has worn a lot of hats in the last 20-something years. He's perhaps best known as a writer-producer for television, having co-created the cult fave reality series "America's Next Top Model," the widely successful ABC sitcom "black-ish," and its two spin-offs, "grown-ish" and "mixed-ish." Prolific career in TV aside, Barris has also been slowly carving out a niche in film. He's racked up credits on projects like "Girls Trip," "Shaft," "Little," and "Coming 2 America" as both a producer and a writer. But there's probably nothing that can fully prepare anyone to direct a film — and Barris learned that the hard way with his feature debut.
"You People" — co-written with Jonah Hill and produced by frequent collaborator Netflix — was Barris' foray into directing. It very well could have been his final one, too: "On the last day of shooting, I was like, 'I'll never do this again,'" Barris told Forbes.

It may be family-friendly content, but at least viewers now know the series has some grit.
Sure, the two recurring characters offed on Stargirl Season 1 Episode 3 were mostly non-essential to the overarching plot, but with the writers following through and taking the plunge shows that no one may is safe.
Or rather, no one except Courtney and Pat, as if the writers killed one of them off, there would barely be any story left to tell.
Any sort of attempt to memorialize The Wizard or Joey would feel false, as the audience barely knew anything about them.
From the little viewers saw of Joey, he seemed like a nice, if somewhat shy, high-schooler who didn't seem to inherit his father's talents for magic.
The Wizard, of course, had actual magical abilities, but it's to feel sympathy for him, as he was a member of the Injustice Society of America.

Just as a character in another beloved WarnerMedia brand could tell you: nothing ever ends. Thankfully that applies to the colorful and lovely Cartoon Network animated series Adventure Time as well.

We speak with director/podcaster/personality extraordinaire Kevin Smith about Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and his Sdcc memories.
It is hard to imagine a San Diego Comic-Con without Kevin Smith, but there was an era we’ll call Bks where Saturday nights at the event didn’t conclude with the Jerseyed One from Jersey taking the main stage.
In actuality, the director, podcaster, comedian and nerd culture commentator didn’t make it to Sdcc until 1995. He went to screen Mallrats -- offsite at the Horton Plaza mall -- and didn’t even hold a panel. By ’96, Smith was speaking to a packed room at the con.
“That’s when I felt like I had arrived at Comic-Con,” he said in a recent interview. “The following year, '97, we'd had Chasing Amy out there, and when I went back, I had a bigger room to do the Q&a,...

Everything you need to know about The Dark Tower TV series, including latest news, release date, story details, and more!
The Dark Tower TV series is in development at Amazon. While the series was originally planned to tie into the 2017 film, that is no longer the plan, according to Stephen King in an interview with Vulture.
"The TV series they’re developing now … we’ll see what happens with that. It would be like a complete reboot, so we’ll just have to see," said King.
Glen Mazzara, who previously helmed The Walking Dead season 3, has been brought on as showrunner. Akiva Goldsman, who produced and co-wrote the film adaptation, will executive produce, along with Jeff Pinkner, Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer. Nikolaj Arcel, who directed The Dark Tower movie, and screenwriter Anders Thomas Jensen wrote a script for the pilot and will also executive produce.

Universal has changed the Wicked movie release date.
Look to the western sky: Wicked will finally fly from Broadway into movie theaters.
Universal has moved the release date of the Wicked movie. According to Deadline, the Wicked movie will be released on December 22, 2021, rather than the originally announced December 20, 2019. This means it will be going head-to-head with Avatar 3. You know, in theory.
"I will tell you 100 percent there will be a movie of Wicked and it won't be that far away, but it won't be next year, because we're still writing," Wicked stage musical creator Stephen Schwartz told THR in September 2018. "Pre-production hasn't even begun, but that could start in the not-too-distant future."
Luckily, musical fans will still have something to look forward to Christmas 2019. The Cats movie is set for a December 20, 2019 release.
