However, we might not get that this season, according to Chicago Med executive producers Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider. While Frolov is “sure” they’ll have those smaller crossovers, with characters coming over from Chicago Fire and P.D., “as far as a big crossover, it’s being talked about, but it’s difficult because each show is in a different dramatic place in a way that characters are involved in their stories,” she explains to TV Insider. “So it just becomes, when is it appropriate for one character to cross over into another?” After all, Med in its premiere just set up a whole slew of storylines: Charles (Oliver Platt) seeing ...

Austin Butler in Apple TV+’s ‘Masters of the Air’
The 2023-2024 primetime television season looked nothing like previous years, with reruns, unscripted shows, and international imports populating broadcast networks’ lineups. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, though undeniably justified, took quite a toll on all the networks. Fortunately, the strikes have been settled, production has begun on nearly every new and returning series, and the midseason January lineup hints that things are slowly returning to normal.
Here’s a look at the shows scheduled to launch their new season – or series – premieres in January 2024. NBC’s Chicago shows – Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. – will kick off new seasons on January 17th, with the Law & Order franchises returning on January 18th. New highly anticipated series debuting in January include Echo, Expats, Masters of the Air, The Brothers Sun, and Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale.

Last season was a mixed bag for NBC. Like the other broadcast networks, NBC is relying heavily on existing properties and last year even revived the previously cancelled Law & Order series. The peacock network introduced just six new scripted series during the regular 2021-22 television season and renewed half of them. Which TV shows will draw big ratings and survive the 2022-23 season? Stay tuned.

While the writers have tentatively reached a deal with the studios — the ratification vote will take place October 2-9 — and actors are set to meet with the studios on October 2, the fall schedule was tweaked to add in reruns and unscripted series without shows going into production as usual over the summer. But One Chicago fans will still get to see their first responders on Wednesday nights. Starting on October 4 (at 10/9c), NBC will be rotating Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. and airing some of the most compelling episodes from last season. First up is Fire, for four weeks, followed by P.D., and Med. Chicago Fire begins with “A Guy I Used to Know,” the 11th episode of Season 11, in which 51 prepares for their semi-annual firehouse inspection. Plus, Brett (Kara Killmer) fights to save her paramedicine program, and Commander Martin ...
