"Why You've Never Met the 4th Haim Sister" is a pretty long title for a relatively short film as this one here only runs for slightly under 4 minutes, fittingly with the number in the title. It was made back in 2017 when actress Brie Larson was already an Oscar winner for Room and FunnyOrdie has a tendency to sometimes get successful actors and actresses (allow me the distinction) in their usually very short films and here they got a pretty big name. I must say I had to check who these Haim sisters are. My first guess was somewhat on Corey Haim, but I suppose that would have too politically incorrect for FunnyOrDie. Nope, this is about a female band that consists of three (Jewish?) sisters and Larson's character is the 4th Haim sister this time and she really wants to be in the band too. The jokes here include overall mispronunciation of the last name, (intentionally) bad singing and references to studio (apartment)s. Sadly Larson's character is unintentionally correct that it feels very much like bragging when the trio talks about what they do. And it is not particularly pleasant to the viewer. The three sisters feel so out of place here, so maybe as much as Larson's character should not be a singer, they should not have agreed to act in this short because even with how little they have to do, it doesn't feel right. The outcome is that here we do not have a good comedy film. My suggestion is to skip the watch and while the final joke with the mother also wanting to enter the band is not too shabby and among the better moments, it is not enough to make up for all the weakness and mediocrity before that. You rarely see Larson in a not good film at all. Here it happen's. Don't watch or only if you really love her. Fans of the musicians featured in here I would recommend to stay away. The only thing that could have made their effort even worse would have been had they started singing in a desperate promo attempt. Thumbs down overall.
