Britbox’s Living the Dream comedy came to TCA; it’s about a British family named Pemberton who relocate from England to Florida to take ownership of an Rv park, and discov it’s not the American Dream they thought. Kim Fields, who plays one of the locals, got asked if she is channeling “her southern self” in the series.
“I’m from New York, from Harlem,” she shot back. “I don’t necessarily have an inner southern belle, I’m just a really great actress.”
Why Florida, asked another critic, who thought it might just as well have been set in the American Midwest.
Brit actor Philip Glenister had to explain to the American journalist that 1.4 million Brits visit Florida every year and about 700K live there.
“Brits wouldn’t know too much about the Midwest,” he said as nicely as possible, calling it “too much of a move into the unknown.

Miami — Tyler Perry took time out of his “Madea’s Farewell” live stage tour and spent his Martin Luther King Jr. holiday giving an inspiring speech to aspiring producers and students gathered here for the annual Natpe convention.
Perry was the keynoter Monday at the conference’s first ever “Living the Dream: A Career in Content” session aimed at educating and fostering networking connections for budding creatives, those in entry-level industry positions and film and TV school students. The session was presented by the NAACP, the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts and Discovery.
Perry told his story of rising from modest means in New Orleans to tackling the film and TV business entirely on his own terms. He stressed the importance to the packed house at Miami’s Fontainebleau Hotel of following his lead by maintaining ownership of their IP and finished products. “You have to make sure you...

Slash and his bandmates in Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators get the rag doll treatment in the fun new video for “Driving Rain.” The song appears on Living the Dream, which was released via Slash’s own label, Snakepit, in partnership with Roadrunner.
In the clip, the band, whose puppet counterparts wear serious (and funny) rock & roll riffing expressions perform on a mountain. Meanwhile, a rag doll couple is fighting. The woman takes off in a jeep with her friend to escape the argument. As they flee down a street,...

When Slash put out his first solo album – It’s Five O’clock Somewhere, under the name Slash’s Snakepit, in 1995 – he encouraged fans to ask, “What if?” about the music – “What if this were a Guns N’ Roses song?” “If I write something, my first and foremost priority would be to dedicate it to Guns,” he told Rolling Stone at the time. “Axl said, ‘That’s not the kind of music I want to do.’ I said, ‘Ok,’ and I took it all back.” Now, after nearly 25 years of public tumult,...

Slash and Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators performed their blistering new song “Driving Rain” on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday.
“Driving Rain” opens with a quintessential, unrelenting Slash riff. He peppered the hard rocker with jagged licks and solos, while Kennedy wailed, “I can’t see the road through the driving rain/ But I won’t stop now/ Her love is calling me home, seems to guide the way/ So I won’t stop now.”
Slash, Kennedy and the Conspirators also performed the bluesy ripper, “Mind Your Manners.”

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators have released a bluesy new song, “Mind Your Manners,” from the group’s upcoming album Living the Dream.
The Guns N’ Roses guitarist alternates between ragged power chords and squealing solos throughout the song; on the chorus, Kennedy layers his voice into stacked harmonies.
“Mind Your Manners” is the second preview from Living the Dream, following the July-issued “Driving Rain.” As Slash recently told Forbes, the new single was the first song the band played together in their jams for the new LP, the...

After two years on the road with Guns N’ Roses, Slash is saddling up for a new release with his band The Conspirators. He began working on “Living The Dream,” his third album with the group, in 2015 but once he began talking to Gnr frontman Axl Rose about a possible return to the stage, it became clear there was unfinished business for the two of them to tend to.
The Guns tour was, according to Slash, way more joyous than expected. But he declines to say much more than that. “It’s a very harmonious thing we have going on and there’s nothing to explain,” Slash tells Variety. “We spent the last two years not talking to anybody and really enjoyed it.”
New Gnr music, as Slash has said in previous interviews, is very much a possibility. But perhaps set to see the light even sooner, a never-before-heard collaboration...

Sheep . . . sheep . . . Axl. You can see some amazing things out the window of this mansion-turned-hotel in rural England, where Slash is currently hanging out in a backward Thrasher cap and talking up his new album, Living the Dream, with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, due September 21st. But he and his other bandmates have traveled to this vast green estate because he’s playing the nearby Download Festival tomorrow with Guns N’ Roses — and he hasn’t, until this 90-minute interview, talked in depth about their fantastically successful reunion. He...

In a statement about the song, Slash recalled performing the main riff with the band for the first time at a New Hampshire venue during their tour behind 2014’s World on Fire, their most recent LP. “It’s a cool guitar part we ran though, and from that point forward the rest of the...
