As Arkin in The Collector and The Collection, Josh Stewart navigated the kinds of traps that you would find in a Freddy Krueger dream, but in his new film Back Fork, Stewart faces a nightmare that's all too real: the opioid epidemic in the United States, particularly in West Virginia. Written and directed by Stewart (who also stars in the film), Back Fork takes an unflinching look at the damaging effects of opioid addiction, and with the movie now in theaters and VOD platforms from Uncork'd Entertainment, Daily Dead had the great pleasure of catching up with Stewart for our latest Q&A feature to discuss filming Back Fork in West Virginia, telling an honest story about addiction, and John Pilgrim's emotional (and explosive) arc in the second season of The Punisher.
Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us, and congratulations on Back Fork. What does...

"You think I don't know what you're doing for pills?" Uncork'd Entertainment has debuted the trailer for an indie film titled Back Fork, a small town addiction drama that's written, directed, produced by, and stars West Virginia-born actor Josh Stewart. Stewart plays Waylon, a man struggling to hold his life and family together after a heartbreaking tragedy. He and his wife, Nida, barely recognize themselves, let alone each other. Their inability to continue on and to heal, leaves them hopeless. When the strain of the tragedy is too much for the young couple, prescription pills become the medicine to ease the pain. Another depressing film about the opioid epidemic in America. But these are stories that need to be told. Also starring A.J. Cook, Agnes Bruckner, Wade Williams, Eden Brolin, David Selby, and Dorothy Lyman. Give this a look. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Josh Stewart's Back Fork,...

A.J. Cook, Agnes Bruckner and Eden Brolin are set to star in Back Fork, an indie drama from actor-turned-director Josh Stewart.
Stewart also toplines Back Fork, which he wrote and is directing. Production began Thursday in Back Fork, W.V.
Stewart is also producing with Jeffrey Tinnell and Robert Tinnell. Tony Sgro is executive producing.
The drama deals with opioid addiction, a timely topic as it has become a national health crisis in the U.S. and President Donald Trump spoke on the topic Tuesday. The location and situations are close to Stewart’s heart, as the filmmaker is from West Virginia.
