Disney Studios is developing a reimagining of its 1986 sci-fi live action feature Flight of the Navigator with a female lead, a project that Bryce Dallas Howard is attached to direct and produce for Disney+.
The original movie, starring Joey Cramer, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Veronica Cartwright, follows a boy who travels eight years into the future from 1978 and has an adventure with an intelligent, wisecracking alien ship, named Max. Paul Reubens provided the voice of Max in the film which was released in late July 1986 grossing an uninflated $18.6M at the domestic B.O. Randal Kleiser, who had directed Paramount’s big hit Grease, and The Blue Lagoon, directed the original Flight of the Navigator off a screenplay by Michael Burton and Phil Joanou.
John Swartz, Howard’s partner at her production company Nine Muses, and Justin Springer are also producing.

With Fear The Walking Dead recently returning to AMC for the second half of its sixth season, Daily Dead was thrilled to take part in virtual roundtable interviews with the cast to discuss what it was like returning to the set after being on hiatus due to Covid-19, continuing to develop their characters, and the unpredictable nature of the upcoming episodes.
On finding their way back to their characters after production was put on hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic:
Colman Domingo: I can talk to the way we've come back, which is even more mindful of production. Productions can be unwieldy and big and lots of hands-on things, and all it took was this pandemic for us to take a moment and be more mindful of how we're working. About our time, about our coverage, about just taking that beat to wipe something off and make sure someone...

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers for “The Sanctuary.”
After the hugely nostalgic trip to Ni’Var in “Unification III,” you’d think that Discovery might be briefly done with a ton of callbacks to previous eras of Trek. With Episode 8, “Sanctuary,” that guess is partially correct. When Burnham and Book hit-up Book’s home planet of Kwejian, the vast majority of what happens on that planet doesn’t have roots in old Trek canon, because, Kwejian — at least for Burnham — is a strange new world. That said, the rest of the episode still has more than a handful of references to the Final Frontier that came before. Here’s every Easter egg and reference we caught in Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 8, “Sanctuary.”

This Star Trek: Discovery review contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 8
From the very beginning, Star Trek: Discovery has loved putting Michael Burnham in an impossible situation, and making her choose. This isn’t a bad narrative habit, especially for a show as thematically-driven as Star Trek, but some Kobayashi Maru scenarios are more interesting than others and, some, well… some are just plain clunky. This was the case in “The Sanctuary,” which saw not only Michael but the whole Discovery crew sent to Book’s home planet, Kwejian, to strictly observe, Emerald Chain leader Oysraa show up to bully the trance worm-loving planet. As far as no-win scenarios go, this one has a pretty obvious moral high ground. From the moment Admiral Vance allowed Saru to captain his ship to Kwejian, I think we all knew where this was going to end…
And what an ending it was.

A trend for horror anthologies is emerging from the competing titles in this year’s Sitges Pitchbox event, as organizers Filmmarket Hub and the Sitges Film Festival announce this year’s line up.
And, as the movie project showcase opens up its doors to series for the first time, it’s buzzy titles such as “R.I.P “ and “Mr Ray” which appear to be embracing the anthology format.
Developed during a 2019 Manhattan Institute Film Workshop “Mr Ray” is created by Antoine Bours – a series creator on Belgian-French scripted crime series “Ennemi Public” (“Public Enemy”).
Pitching itself as “Penny Dreadful” meets Tim Burton’s “Big Fish,” the series is described as “a love letter to the anthology series” and a tribute to one of its pioneers, the early twentieth century Belgian horror writer Jean Ray.
The eight-part series begins in the early 1960s, following Ray’s estranged daughter Molly as...
