First appearance of Ginny Holder as Darlene Curtis.
When the team breaks into the bungalow with the blue doors on the neighboring island, they are able to swing both doors open as soon as the lock is bypassed. The second door of a double-door system must be deadbolted up into the jamb and down into the threshold to immobilize the door. Otherwise the lock can't secure the doors. If the second door is left unbolted to swing as shown in the episode, the doors could simply be pulled open even if the keyed lock was engaged. Also, if the second door was secured properly, the primary door would not open with the credit card trick as shown since the bevel would face the inside of the bungalow.
The denouement to the mystery hinges on the identity of a character called Otis Falconer. This surname is a play on the name of the actor playing the murder victim, James Faulkner.
The fruit (banana or plantain) in the tailpipe is the same trick used in the 80's movie Beverly Hills Cop (1984) staring Eddie Murphy.
