- When homicide detective, John Riley's daughter is abducted and assumed murdered, John loses his mind. Isolated and mentally broken, John is reluctantly pulled back into a new murder case, where clues suggest that his daughter may still be alive.—Eric Weinstock
- JOHN RILEY (40) is a decorated homicide detective with a doting wife, MARIANNE (30) and an adorable daughter AVERY (5). After heroically nabbing a serial killer, WINSTON (40), John is devastated when the charges don't stick. Soon after Winston's release, he vengefully abducts Avery right under John's nose. In a dramatic standoff, John kills Winston, but not before he can save his daughter. Avery's body is never discovered, however. Eventually, John resigns himself to the fact that his daughter is dead. The tragedy weighs so heavily on John, that in time, he loses his mind and ultimately his job. Upon his release from the police force, John retreats to a world of isolation and delusion. Years later, a new series of murders spring up that resemble Winston's handiwork. Grisly deaths, marked with religious overtones, smack of a copycat killer. DETETCIVE SAWYER (40), John's ex-partner, works the case, but due to it's complexity and similarity to Winston's murders, she knows that she needs John's help. John doesn't want to be a part of this world anymore, but can't help but be sucked back in when the new killer leaves him a message on his personal voicemail. Reluctant at first, John wants to help Sawyer stop this killer from ruining another family's life, like Winston ruined his. The stakes rise when John discovers information that connect the current crimes to Avery's disappearance. Sawyer works the case with John's surreptitious help and suspects that the killer may be a cop. John pushes Sawyer to question everyone, and intimates that the killer may even be Sawyer's new partner. John's instincts are invaluable, but his immersion in the case take a tremendous toll on his withering psyche. As Sawyer and John close in, the body count rises. Barely able to separate reality from delusion, John's condition deteriorates by the moment. Can Sawyer nab the killer, while also saving John? Can John help Sawyer crack the case, while avoiding suspicion himself?
