At least some of the Backstreet Boys’ songs have the timeless quality of The Beatles‘ songs. The writer of many Backstreet Boys tunes said he drew influence from The Beatles to write a very odd line. While the lyric might raise eyebrows, it certainly worked out for the Backstreet Boys.
A Backstreet Boys song was inspired by perceived gibberish from The Beatles
Max Martin is a Swedish songwriter who penned hits for the Backstreet Boys (“I Want It That Way”), Britney Spears, Ariana Grande “(“Break Free”), Taylor Swift (“Shake It Off”), and numerous other singers. He co-wrote and co-produced the Backstreet Boys’ “Shape of My Heart.” That tune includes the oddball lyrics “Sadness is beautiful/ Loneliness is tragical.”
During a 2019 interview with The Telegraph, Martin explained why he sometimes coins new words in his songs. “I grew up on Elton John and The Beatles and I had no idea what they were saying,...

More than two years have passed since it was announced that MGM, Bron, and Hidden Empire Film Group were teaming with director Deon Taylor to conjure up a reboot of the 1972 blaxploitation classic Blacula (watch it Here). Last night (and one year late), a 50th anniversary screening of Blacula was held at the Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills – and while promoting that event, Variety happened to include a long-awaited update on the Blacula reboot, saying the new film is slated for a Halloween 2024 release.
The new Blacula has been described as a “modern reimagining” of the original film, but Variety has also made it sound like it’s going to be a follow-up to Blacula and its sequel Scream Blacula Scream (watch that one Here). According to Variety, “the reboot picks up where the original saga left off, after the 1973 sequel Scream Blacula Scream, and will be set in...

A new Van Halen box set, The Collection II, has been announced and will arrive on October 6th via Rhino.
Following the 2015 set, The Collection, which housed the band’s first six albums with David Lee Roth, The Collection II will cull the four Van Halen albums featuring singer Sammy Hagar in addition to several studio rarities and a B-side.
Affectionately known as the “Van Hagar” years, Eddie Van Halen and company released four successful LPs while fronted by the Red Rocker during the ’80s and ’90s: 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995).
The Collection II will compile these records together for the first time on vinyl ($124.98) and CD ($49.98). A fifth disc, titled Studio Rarities 1989-2004, is especially of note for hardcore Van Halen enthusiasts. Among these eight tracks is “Crossing Over,” the B-Side to Balance’s “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” (the band’s only non-album B-side...

What is considered the best Rolling Stones album? It’s a fair question, and there are plenty to choose from. Would it be one of the classics the band strung together in the 1960s and 1970s? Would it be one of the albums that peaked at No. 2 despite housing incredible songs? Or one of the many compilations stacked with hits (and some of the band’s controversial songs)? Best is subjective, but we know which of the nine Rolling Stones albums to reach No. 1 were the most commercially successful of the group’s records (thanks to some help from Billboard’s meticulous record-keeping).

Since its premiere in 1990, "Law & Order" has become the gold standard of police procedurals. It was by no means the first police procedural, but it is perhaps the most recognizable. True to its genre, each episode of this series features a crime that must be solved by detectives and prosecuted by the District Attorney's office. Although some storylines are original ideas, many take inspiration from high-profile cases, larger-than-life criminals, and current events within the U.S. justice system.
After three decades and counting, fans can enjoy over 400 episodes and 22 seasons of their favorite procedural. It's a massive chunk of television to sift through, but some parts of the series are more worthwhile than others. From unbearable characters to stale plots, the worst seasons of "Law & Order" are full of frustrating departures from the series' tried-and-true formula. For a certain set of music fans, The Rolling Stones have always included Ronnie Wood. The guitarist wasn’t one of the band’s five original members, but he is one of the longest-serving. And he might have to consider himself lucky. Wood’s confidence during his tryout for the Stones made drummer Charlie Watts crack a good-natured joke. Having the mild-mannered drummer open up might have helped Wood achieve his long-held professional dream of joining The Rolling Stones.

It may not be particularly fair to say that this is a bit of a duff weekend, because there are indeed new wide and moderate releases. It’s just that very few of them are screening in advance for critics and therefore might be seen as less than. Can any of them topple Week 7 of “Avatar: The Way of Water”?
The one possibility is “Infinity Pool,” Brandon Cronenberg’s follow-up to his 2020 thriller, “Possessor,” which was stymied by the shutdown of movie theaters due to Covid. This one is equally enigmatic, though it has more of a name cast, including Alexander Skarsgård (“Big Little Lies”) and Mia Goth. Skarsgård plays a writer on a luxury vacation with his wife Em (Cleopatra Coleman from “Dopesick”) who becomes involved in a fatal accident that throws him into the locale’s world of horror and violence.

Now, fans will be getting twice as much Captain Olivia Benson on May 19, with her helping out during a case in the hour before Svu. In Law & Order‘s Season 21 finale, “Black and Blue,” the murder of an off-duty NYPD detective threatens to tear the city apart. Detective Frank Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan) knew the cop and mourns the loss of a friend. He asks Benson for help solving the case. Plus, D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) disagree on how to prosecute the culprit, sparking sharp condemnation from all sides. The promo introduces the case and shows Benson with Detective Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) and Cosgrove. It sounds like there will, once again, as...

This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6 episode 5.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are both known for their fine-tuned attention to detail. This means that the plotting of both shows can be meticulous, but also produce a big pay-off in the end. The lead up to the explosive climax is typically filled with plenty of key turning points, though. These are the moments that the audience marks in their head and says, “this is going to be instrumental in what happens down the road.”
It took nearly the entire five seasons of Breaking Bad for Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) to finally put together the Heisenberg puzzle. All the way through, there were moments where both the viewer and Hank started to think about the possibility of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) being New Mexico’s newest drug lord. Walter leaving his meth equipment out in the desert in the first season,...

This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6.
Through five seasons and some change combined on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, iconic villain Gustavo “Gus” Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) is notable for always keeping his cards close to the vest.
The fast food chicken magnate and regional meth lord very rarely shows any kind of emotion or realization across his stoic face. And that just makes the moments in which he does all the more significant. One such moment comes midway through Better Call Saul season 6’s most recent episode, “Black and Blue”.
Roughly nine minutes into “Black and Blue”, Better Call Saul entreats its viewers to an enigmatic scene that seems to have little to do with the rest of the episode. Gus Fring is working at one of his Los Pollos Hermanos locations as he likes to do. He appears to be a little tense (at least...

‘Better Call Saul’ Review: In ‘Black and Blue,’ Everyone Has to Face the Worst Version of Themselves
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Better Call Saul” Season 6, Episode 5, “Black and Blue.”]
One chair isn’t going to cut it.
Though, to be fair to Kim (Rhea Seehorn), it’s the kind of thing that’s worked in the past for her and Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk). The name changes, the career changes, and the last-second strokes of genius have all been temporary fixes to head off the worst that’s coming their way.
After plenty of moments tracking Jimmy lying awake, unsure of what’s coming next, “Better Call Saul” shows Kim pacing around the living room, hoping that a 2 Am cigarette will do more than the piece of furniture shoved in the door to fend off anyone seeking revenge. Jimmy may be the one who’s already changed his name, but Kim is the one who’s fully processing the fundamental change that his choice to be a “friend of the cartel” is...

It’s a marked victory for Howard who knocks Jimmy down before exiting the gym he lured him to. But Howard has more tricks up his sleeve as he hires a private investigator to follow Jimmy. Could he uncover Kim’s (Rhea Seehorn) involvement in the scheme along the way? After last week’s historic meeting between Kim and Mike, it would be easy to assume that the legal and cartel halves of Better Call Saul would begin merging more and more in these final episodes. But it’s hard to see that happening to a significant extent,...

Oh yes, we're wading into controversial waters with this one, but it is what it is.
With Chicago Pd on a hiatus, it prompts one to reflect on the first half of the season, and with that comes a nagging issue that's been consistent within the series but especially evident this season.
We, better than anyone, are perfectly aware of Upstead's popularity and its passionate, rabid fanbase within Chicago Pd's fandom, so it wouldn't be a shock if they are sharpening the pitchforks at this very second.
Nevertheless, one will forge ahead and say that Chicago Pd has become way too invested in this romantic relationship and partnership. At times, it's to the detriment of the series.
On a larger scale, the romantic entanglements have always been an issue, lest anyone thinks this is solely an Upstead thing.
The series' ship baiting has become so pronounced. Unless you're avid fans and find it enjoyable,...

U.K. broadcaster ITV is making key changes to its pre-9pm schedule, including extending the evening news and putting its two biggest soaps, “Coronation Street” and “Emmerdale,” back to back.
Presented by Mary Nightingale (pictured above), ITV’s evening news programme is being extended from 30 minutes to an hour with plans to focus more on reporting outside of London, reflecting what is happening across the country rather than just its capital.
The broadcaster is also moving its two flagship soaps into new slots: “Coronation Street” will now get hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm, preceded by “Emmerdale,” which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, at 7.30pm.
“As viewing habits rapidly change, live audiences to our national and international news programmes remain remarkably strong,” said ITV’s managing director of media and entertainment, Kevin Lygo, in a statement.

Locarno will also host screenings of two of Spinotti’s standout films resulting from his long-time partnership with director Michael Mann: Oscar-nominated “The Insider” and classic heist thriller “Heat.” Spinotti will receive the prize in a ceremony at the Piazza Grande on Aug. 12, and hold an audience-led conversation the following day.
Spinotti’s prolific and consistent output has crossed genres and cinematic trends for four decades. His feature debut work was in Sergio Citti’s “Il minestrone” in 1981, but he was quickly off to Hollywood where he made an impact with the diversity and quality of his efforts, working on films like Sam Raimi’s Western “The Quick and the Dead,” Garry Marshall’s rom-com “Frankie and Johnny” starring Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer, and...

Overlong and erratically paced, Brendan Kyle Cochrane’s New York City-based “Equal Standard” opens with a self-conscious scene that heavy-handedly hints at an impending tragedy. There in the sun-dappled kitchen of the happy Jones family, Detective Chris (Tobias Truvillion), Sergeant Jackie (Syleena Johnson) and their adorable daughter lovingly go about their rosy morning routine, while an over-sentimental score embellished with stark notes of caution (one of the film’s various recurring motifs of unsubtlety) accompanies the perfect picture. As the doting husband and wife exchange their daily goodbyes before taking off for their high-risk professions, there is so much weight and emphasis placed on the concerned Jackie when she says “Be safe” that you prophetically know Chris is soon going to need that advice.

Over the course of his first four appearances on “The Masked Singer,” the Robopine has won over the four judges and the home audience with his powerful set of pipes. It is no surprise that he is still in the competition to win the season 5 Golden Mask. He takes to the stage again on the May 5 episode, “The Spicy 6 – The Competition Heats Up!”
To figure out who is hiding inside the Robopine costume, we’ve gone back and take another look at his previous performances: “Never Too Much” by Luther Vandross in Week 1; “All of Me” by John Legend in Week 3; “Killing Me Softly” by Roberta Flack in Week 6; and “Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye in Week 7. And we’ve also rewatched his video clues packages.
We’ve ruled out those guesses by the judges that the Robopine is Terry Crews, Jamie Foxx or Aaron Hall. Keep...

We love watching Robopine rock the house on “The Masked Singer.” On April 21, he secured a slot in the Super 6 with his silky smooth cover of the Marvin Gaye classic “Let’s Get it On.” We certainly aren’t surprised that the four judges sing his praises. But we just can’t understand how they can be so wrong about who is hiding inside the Robopine costume.
The Robopine is not Terry Crews, Jamie Foxx or Aaron Hall. We’ve rewatched all of his performances, several of which were showcased on the special sing-along episode on April 28. And we’ve taken another look at his clues videos. Keep reading for our reasoning “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the real name of the Robopine.
The Robopine is Tyrese Gibson, the R&b singer who is also one of the stars of the “Fast and Furious” film franchise, including the upcoming “F9.
